A target computational instance may be configured to operate the software application and store a second set of content related to the software application. The software application operated by the target computational instance may apply transformation rules to received content before storing the received content in the second set of content. The source computational instance may be further configured to receive selected content chosen from the first set of content and an indication of the target computational instance, and transmit the selected content to the target computational instance. The method includes receiving an audio question from a first user of a plurality of users connected to a conference, recording the audio question and preventing an immediate transmission of the audio question to the plurality of users connected to the conference, analyzing the recorded question and a recorded portion of the conference to determine that the question has been answered during the recorded portion of the conference, and in response to the determining that the audio question has previously been answered, transmitting a relevant section of the recorded portion of the conference consisting of an answer to the audio question to the first user.

Segments of a content item may contain captions data in different formats, where conversion between one format to another may be required when one format is not compatible with a computing device or presentation settings. The captions data may be converted to a compatible format(s). The embedded captions data may be converted on a segment-by-segment basis and/or in real-time for streaming content.

Abstract: A method to provide secure delivery of a manifest file for use in playback of a video signal on a video player. The method includes establishing a connection with the video player, wherein the connection has a session identifier identifying the connection with the video player, receiving a request from the video player for the video signal, wherein the video signal is associated with the manifest file created for the video signal, customizing, using the session identifier identifying the connection with the video player, the manifest file created for the video player to provide a customized manifest file that is unique to the video player, the customized manifest file to be used in playback of the video signal on the video player, encrypting the customized manifest file using a manifest encryption key which is based on the session identifier identifying the connection with the video player, and transmitting the encrypted manifest file to the video player.

Abstract: A method provides translation of metadata related to enhancement of a video signal according to a first high dynamic range video distribution type into metadata related to enhancement of a video signal according to a second high dynamic range video distribution type. Translation is done between a value of a first metadata set corresponding to a first type of high dynamic range video and a value of a second metadata set corresponding to a second type of high dynamic range video and uses an association that may be stored in a lookup table that is determined according to differences between a test image reconstructed using the metadata of first type and the same image reconstructed using the metadata of second type. A receiver apparatus and a transmitter apparatus comprising the translation method are also disclosed.

Abstract: Described herein is a memory architecture that is configured to dynamically determine an address encoding to use to encode multi-dimensional data such as multi-coordinate data in a manner that provides a coordinate bias corresponding to a current memory access pattern. The address encoding may be dynamically generated in response to receiving a memory access request or may be selected from a set of preconfigured address encodings. The dynamically generated or selected address encoding may apply an interleaving technique to bit representations of coordinate values to obtain an encoded memory address. The interleaving technique may interleave a greater number of bits from the bit representation corresponding to the coordinate direction in which a coordinate bias is desired than from bit representations corresponding to other coordinate directions.

The request can include a parameter associated with the streaming video. The computer can initiate transmission of an inquiry message to two or more mobile computing nodes and receive inquiry message responses from the mobile computing nodes that include the mobile computing node. The inquiry message responses can indicate that the mobile computing nodes can satisfy the parameter. The computer can create a list of the mobile computing nodes that can satisfy the parameter and provide the list to the requestor. The computer can receive a selection of the mobile computing node, and initiate delivery of a video stream to the requestor.

The capability data can include data that indicate a number of bitstreams, each providing an alternative version of input video, as well as data that indicate scalable video coding capabilities. The decoding host controller creates stream configuration request data based on the encoder capability data, and sends the configuration request data to the encoding controller. During decoding, the decoding host controller can create and send a control message for run-time control of encoding, where the control message includes a stream identifier for a bitstream and layer identifiers for a given layer of the bitstream.

Abstract: A network digital video recording (nDVR) system may take into account the capabilities of a requesting user's local DVR when managing network recordings. The user's local DVR may include a temporary buffer that is normally used to record what the DVR is tuned to, and may be used for local trickplay functionality such as pausing live television. The nDVR features described herein may track the usage of the user's temporary DVR buffer, and use that in determining what to stream in response to a user's playback request. The nDVR system can also determine if the user's local DVR has an unused tuner at a time of a program recording, and can instruct the user's local DVR to also tune to the program.

Abstract: A network load traffic management component is communicatively coupled to a radio access network (RAN). The network load traffic management component includes a subscriber scoring module and a subscriber scoring database that operates on a server processor and a server memory. The network load traffic management component identifies at least one network event corresponding to a RAN control plane. The network load traffic management component monitors each network event for a session time, in which each session time is associated with each subscriber interacting with the RAN. The network load traffic management component, repeatedly, determines a performance measurement for each network event associated with each session time. The performance measurement for each network event is recorded. A subscriber score is generated based on the performance measurements for each network event. A predictive indicator score is generated based on subscriber scores and behavioral analytics associated with each subscriber.

Abstract: Techniques are described for switching streaming of media content between content delivery networks (CDNs) during mid-stream. An initial CDN can be used to stream the media content. The performance of a second CDN can be measured by requesting a fragment of the media content as a measurement or test fragment. Streaming of the media content can be switched to the second CDN if its performance is determined to be better than the initial CDN.

Images from the video assets are displayed in a uniform manner, along with information about the video assets. The information includes data in a metadata category. The view can select one of the video assets for viewing, but also can navigate using metadata categories such as genre, actors, director etc. This allows a much easier and natural navigating and selection process for viewers.

Abstract: A broadcast system provides support for clients to receive transmissions over a unicast or a multicast channel from a broadcast server. A server administrator configures each of a first server and client systems connected to the server to receive data in one of a multicast or unicast transmission mode. An empirical test determines whether an intervening network can support the configured mode and if not, transmission is performed using a fall back mode. The first server is able to provide access to data streams from other servers to the client systems connected thereto. Upon requesting a data stream from another server, the first server receives the data stream, replicates the data stream, transmits the data stream to the requesting client system and stores the replicated data stream for immediate access by any requesting client server connected thereto.

Abstract: In viewing a media presentation having multiple streams or tracks running in parallel and synchronized to a common playback timeline, a user experiencing one of the streams will miss interesting events and other content occurring in other streams. Accordingly, upon receiving an instruction to switch from a first stream to a second stream, a summary of the second stream is dynamically generated based on content that the user missed while watching the first stream. The summary is presented to the user prior to transitioning to presentation of the second stream.

Based on user input, the media player identifies a media program and associated schedule information. When the media program is scheduled to play, the placeshifting device directs a media recording device to receive the media program and to store the program. The placeshifting device may digitize, transcode, and/or transrate the media program, if necessary, and transmit the media program to the remote device for playback.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for recommending a media asset based on a geographic location at which that media asset was frequently consumed. For example, the system may monitor a location, such as New York City or Times Square, to determine popular media assets watched there, such as “The Avengers,” and when another user visits New York City, the system may then notify the user that the movie, such as “The Avengers,” is associated with New York City. The system stores the geographic locations associated with the media asset in the database based on the consumption of the media asset so that other users may be notified which media assets are associated with each geographic location.

Abstract: A user can share digital content with another user or device using dynamically-generated barcodes. A user might request to share an electronic book (“e-book”), stored on a first device, with another user having a second device. The first device can generate a barcode that includes not only information about the identity of the e-book, but also information about the user or the first device, which can help to determine rights and/or access restrictions for the content. The second device can capture an image of the barcode generated on a display of the first device, and use information extracted from that image to attempt to obtain a copy of the e-book. Other types of barcodes can be generated based at least in part upon the context, such as where a user is attempting to locate a physical copy of a type of digital content in a retail location.
