Oscillating Piston Patents (Class 73/252)
  • Patent number: 7739921
Abstract: A flow measurement system uses conduits adapted to be coupled to and throughout a liquid or gaseous fluid flow distribution system. Each conduit is instrumented to measure parameters associated with the liquid or gaseous fluid moving therethrough, and wireless transmit a unique code and data indicative of the parameters so-measured. A remotely-located receiver and output device(s) may be used to provide the data and unique code associated with each of the conduits in a human-discernable format. Each conduit may also receive data resulting in adjustment of fluid flow through the conduit.

  • Patent number: 5392632
Abstract: A small volume prover is disclosed which is compact and capable of obtaining highly reliable measurement, keeping a highly accurate base volume without being affected by temperature and pressure of fluid to be measured. The prover includes a cylindrical outer housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet spaced apart from each other, a cylindrical measuring conduit having both open ends and first and second sets of fluid ports radially made in a wall thereof and coaxially mounted within the outer housing and an annular wall mounted between the outer housing and the measuring conduit at the position between the measuring conduit open end and the first set of ports thereof to form an upstream annular passage and a downstream annular passage. During proving preparation a piston is restrained by a piston actuator provided in the outlet-side end of the outer housing to permit the fluid to pass through the annular passage.

  • Patent number: 4448066
Abstract: Apparatus for indicating fuel per pulse in a pulsed fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine, especially a diesel engine, includes a magnetic piston axially movable in a cylindrical bore in a fuel line to and from a stopped position blocking an inlet. The piston has an outer diameter just smaller than the inner diameter of the bore and is included in a magnetic circuit including an actuating coil having an inductance varying with piston position. Circuitry provides strong electrical current pulse to the coil prior to injection to move the piston to its stopped position and then provides a substantially weaker AC current to the coil while monitoring the voltage and rate of change of voltage thereacross. The rate of change of voltage indicates when piston movement in response to a fuel injection pulse ceases; and the voltage at that point indicates piston position and therefore fuel quantity injected.

  • Patent number: 4367653
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for measuring solids in a moving stream installed in a closed system in which the prevailing pressure therein is equal to or higher than the ambient pressure. The device includes an inlet which is smaller in cross-section than a main portion of the housing for providing a solid free internal volume vertically downwardly of the inlet. A diverter member rotatable about a horizontally disposed axis is disposed in the housing portion and has a length greater than the width of the housing so as to permit the upper edge of the diverter member to swing outside the flow of solids into the main portion of the housing while the lower edge of the diverter contacts the opposite wall of the housing for dividing the main portion of the housing into two spaces.

  • Patent number: 4078429
Abstract: A flow-rate measuring device comprises a cavity and an inlet port for receiving and introducing a flow of fluid to the cavity. A wobble plate is pivotally disposed in the cavity to equally divide it into first and second cavity sections when in equilibrium position. An arcuate baffle plate is disposed in the cavity. First and second discharge channels are formed between the edges of the baffle plate and the inner wall of the cavity. An outlet port is connected to the discharge channels. The rearward end of the wobble plate is in proximity to the arcuate surface of the baffle plate and the pivot point of the wobble plate lies at the center of curvature of the baffle plate. The cavity has an increasing transverse dimension toward the first and second discharge channels to form a converging space toward each discharge channel when the wobble plate takes an extremely inclined position.
