Abstract: A method of determining at least one rotation parameter of a wind turbine rotor rotating with a rotation speed and a phase is provided. The method comprises the steps of: measuring an effective centrifugal force acting in a first pre-determined direction, which is defined in a co-ordinate system rotating synchronously with the rotor, on at least one reference object located in or at the rotor, establishing a first angular frequency representing the rotation speed of the rotor on the basis of variations in the measured effective centrifugal force due to gravitational force, establishing a second angular frequency representing the rotation speed of the rotor by use of at least one yaw rate gyro, and establishing the value of the rotation speed as the rotational parameter by correcting the second angular frequency by comparing it to the first angular frequency.
Abstract: A micromechanical rotation-rate sensor includes a substrate, an anchoring device provided on the substrate, as well as a first spiral spring device and a second spiral spring device, the two spiral spring devices being provided next to one another in mirror symmetry along their greatest extension, and the two spiral spring devices together form one spiral spring apparatus. The sensor further includes a centrifugal mass connected to the anchoring device via the first spiral spring device connected to the centrifugal mass so that the centrifugal mass is elastically deflectable from its neutral position, about a rotational axis situated perpendicularly to a substrate surface, so that the centrifugal mass is capable of rotary oscillation. In addition, the first spiral spring device includes a bend at its anchoring region with the anchoring device.
Abstract: In order to compensate for a drop in sensitivity at high rotational speeds, an acceleration sensor having an inductive measuring head (T) which cooperates with a moving Ferraris disk (F) essentially over a main magnetic field and which supplies an acceleration-dependent variable (Vdet; V&agr;) is expanded by an additional DC magnetic field excitation circuit (13, 14, IK, RK) with a means for driving the latter with the effect that the additional DC magnetic field acts in a compensating fashion on an eddy-current DC field, starting from a relatively high rotational speed (&ohgr;) of the Ferraris disk (F). This can be performed by amplifying the main magnetic field or by reducing the eddy-current DC field. A control signal (V&ohgr;), dependent on rotational speed, which both can be generated outside the sensor via a characteristic curve, and can be derived in the form of a control loop from the sensor signal (V&agr;), serves as a drive.

Furthermore, the turntable acceleration generating apparatus includes a signal line for deriving signals from an acceleration sensor located on one of the sides of the large-diameter turntable, and a control signal line for applying control signal to a second servo motor located on the other side of the large-diameter turntable, wherein the large-diameter turntable is grounded such that the large-diameter turntable prevents noise leakage from the control signal line to the signal line.

Abstract: An acceleration measuring system wherein acceleration transducers are mounted on a turntable supported by an air bearing and directly driven by a brushless motor. The output signals generated by the acceleration transducers are amplified by amplifiers mounted on the turntable and the output signals are converted to digital signals by an analog-to-digital converter also mounted on the turntable. The digital signals are modulated into AC signals by a modulator also mounted on the table and then transmitted to a demodulator on a fixed portion of the system through a rotary transformer. The output of the demodulator representing the acceleration signal is applied to digital-to-analog converters and also to a binary coded decimal converter. In an alternative embodiment, the acceleration transducers are mounted on individual separate turntables which in turn are mounted on a primary turntable.

Abstract: A switch assembly for use with a centrifugal actuator in the start winding circuit of a dynamoelectric machine (1). The switch has a pair of electrical contacts (29, 33) contained in a pliable, bellows-like enclosure (37) for protection from foreign matter. The assembly includes a terminal board (19) having an electrically conductive post (28) mounted thereon and comprising one side of the switch. A second contact, comprising the other side of the switch, is directly above the first and is surrounded by an electrically conductive cap (32). The stop has one end rigidly mounted to the terminal board and its other end above and in contact with the switch arm where the cap is affixed to the arm. The bias is caused by the switch arm support structure at the fixed end being attached to the terminal board at an angle.
Abstract: A device for measuring the movement of a motor vehicle with a speedometer (11, 13) which produces a control signal when it is determined that the speed has exceeded a predetermined limit. The distance gauge (11, 15) is preferably equipped with a connecting device (14) which permits a stepwise or continuous increase in the weighting of distance registration following increased speed above the first, predetermined limit.
Abstract: A single-axis rate sensor for determining angular speed .theta. in inertial space of an object rotating about the axis. The rate sensor includes a mass, a motor for rotating the mass about the axis at an angular speed .omega. relative to the object, and a microcomputer for determining a centrifugal force at a radius R from the axis due to the rotation of the mass about the axis at an angular speed .OMEGA. in inertial space, where .OMEGA. is the sum of .theta. and .omega.. Alternative embodiments provide a closed loop system where .OMEGA. is held constant, and a dual rotor arrangement which can be used to reduce a nonlinear factor in a relationship between .theta. and centrifugal force and/or to provide an in-operation self-checking feature.
Abstract: A reduction gear axle apparatus includes a differential gearing assembly positioned for driving a pair of coaxially arranged driving axle shafts. The apparatus includes a rotary input shaft disposed for coupling with a prime mover having a power modulating device. A centrifugal speed control governor is fixed to the input shaft, and the governor is operatively connected to the power modulating device for control thereof as a function of axle shaft speed. In one preferred form, the governor comprises a pair of plates with a plurality of slide weights circumferentially spaced about the plates. One of the plates is fixed to the input shaft while the other is slideable thereon. At least one plate contains cam surfaces wherein as the weights are centrifugally urged outwardly of the input shaft axis, the slideable plate is axially moved away from the fixed plate.
Abstract: An apparatus for the automatic release of passenger protection devices in motor vehicles in the event of an accident has a sensor (35) having a mass (10) secured outside the center of mass (11). This mass (10) generates a comparably high torque in the suspension in the event of both positional change and rotational acceleration. These torques are detected with known measuring methods and split, with the aid of a high-pass filter (36) and a low-pass filter (40), into a high-frequency and a low-frequency portion. The high frequency portion corresponds to the rotational acceleration, from which the rotational velocity is obtained by means of an integrator (38). The low-frequency portion corresponds to the position of the motor vehicle. Thus both measurement variables that must be detected for releasing a roll bar are obtained with a single sensor (35).
