  • Patent number: 6966207
Abstract: A shape detecting apparatus for controlling the tension of a rolled plate, is composed of a pair of fixing members, a supporting frame and a plurality of shape detecting units. The shape detecting units are fixed detachably in a close proximity of the supporting frame in the lateral direction. The shape detecting units are each composed of cylindrical divided rolls in contact with the rolled plate, a fixed member fixed on the supporting frame, an arm member of which one end supports the divided roll rotatably, and of which the other end is fixed on the fixed member, and a load detector for detecting a moment of rotation acting on the arm member.

  • Patent number: 6895380
Abstract: An interactive voice actuated control system for a testing machine such as a tensile testing machine is described. Voice commands are passed through a user-command predictor and integrated with a graphical user interface control panel to allow hands-free operation. The user-command predictor learns operator command patterns on-line and predicts the most likely next action. It assists less experienced operators by recommending the next command, and it adds robustness to the voice command interpreter by verbally asking the operator to repeat unlikely commanded actions. The voice actuated control system applies to industrial machines whose normal operation is characterized by a nonrandom series of commands.

  • Patent number: 6837114
Abstract: A three-dimensional measure device with air bearings includes a base member having a platform horizontally securely thereon. A bridge is slidably mounted on the platform and moved along a first dimension. The bridge includes a first support and a second support respectively supporting a horizontal portion of the bridge. A runner is slidably mounted on the horizontal portion and moved along a second dimension. A tubular shaft is reciprocally and moved received in the runner and moved along a three dimension. A probe is longitudinally movably received in the tubular shaft. The air bearings are mounted between two adjacent elements that are moved relative to each other. Each air bearing has a resilient member mounted and previously compressed therein to provide an act force to the air bearing for adjusting a gap between the two adjacent elements that are moved relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 6668667
Abstract: An arrangement in which a first contact surface (2) for bonding one end (51) of the bonding wire (5) and a piezoelectric actuator (3) are fixed on a support body (1) and a second contact surface (4) for bonding another end (52) of the bonding wire (5) is fixed to the actuator by an unsupported support body (34). The second contact surface moves back and forth in relation to the support body by means of an actuator, at a frequency of between 0.1 Hz and a few KHz and in one or more directions (31, 31′, 31″). The arrangement is suitable for use in testing the endurance of bonding wire connections.

  • Patent number: 6508115
Abstract: A transfer roll 1 for conveying a strip of substantially flat material from one device to another. The strip passes over the transfer roll as the transfer roll rotates. The transfer roll includes a flat and smooth cylindrical outer skin which comprises at least two cylindrical elements. Between the cylindrical elements is arranged a mean 7 for reducing the mechanical stiffness of the cylindrical skin relative to the stiffness of the remainder of the cylindrical skin 2. Suitable means such as a welded joint 9 of reduced cross sectional thickness compared to the remainder of the cylinder are described. Such means separate the cylinder mechanically into a plurality of measurement areas with a predetermined degree of crosstalk. The transfer roll may be used to measure force or tension in strip material more accurately than with previous devices.

  • Patent number: 6427507
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for measuring flatness of a hot rolled strip based on a contact load of the hot rolled strip to split rolls of a looper in the hot rolling process. The split rolls are assembled in a bracket such that each split roll can be separated from the bracket. A normal-movement control unit for moving the split rolls in the normal direction, and a tangent-movement control unit for moving the split rolls in the tangent direction are porvided at a side of the bracket bearing the split rolls. An impact absorption unit is mounted at a support that is movably connected to the tangent-movement control unit. A pre-pressure application unit is provided at the support to prevent a sensor cap and a load sensor from being released. A heat-shielding ring surrounds the load sensor to prevent the load sensor from being overheated.

  • Patent number: 6212960
Abstract: The apparatus has a measuring roller (10, 10i) which comprises independent peripheral regions deformable by compression. The sensors (13, 13i) are fixed to and associated with the deformable peripheral regions of the roller in order to detect the deformation thereof under the effect of the strip and to provide signals in dependence on the deformation. A utilization circuit receives the signals of the sensors in order to derive data and control signals therefrom.
