Abstract: A forage harvester of the type having a rotary reel cutterhead and a feed roll mechanism for feeding crops to the cutterhead is provided with improved drive means for the feed roll mechanism including a forward chain drive arrangement incorporating intermediate shafts and an electromagnetic clutch and a reverse chain drive arrangement incorporating a second electromagnetic clutch, both drive arrangements being driven from the cutterhead drive and driving a common output shaft operatively connected with the feed roll mechanism. An electrical remote control switch operates the electromagnetic clutches for mutually exclusive engagement, or with neither clutch engaged, to produce remotely controlled shifting of the mechanism between forward, idle and reverse drives.

Abstract: A cultivator has soil working members on upwardly extending shafts that are driven by a transmission from the p.t.o. of a prime mover. The transmission includes a transmission shaft that drives an extension of one of the upwardly extending shafts via a speed change gear mechanism of exchangeable pinions. The pinions are located at the top of the mechanism for easy and quick access and the shaft extension is positioned in front of the transmisson shaft. The soil working members are driven through spur toothed pinions in mesh with one another and housed in a hollow frame portion of the cultivator.
Abstract: A power take-off shaft assembly comprises a hollow drive shaft rotatable at one speed; a drive sleeve surrounding said shaft and rotatable simultaneously at another speed; a power take-off shaft with differently splined ends each adapted to fit within the drive shaft and with a central flange having an inner circle of equally spaced holes counterbored at one side of said flange and an outer circle of equally spaced holes counterbored at the other side thereof; and stepped bolts able to reach through said holes only from the counterbored ends thereof to secure the power take-off shaft to the drive shaft when fitted in said inner circle of holes whilst one end of the power take-off shaft projects operatively, and to secure the power take-off shaft to the sleeve when fitted in said outer circle of holes after turning said shaft end-for-end so that its other end projects operatively.
