  • Publication number: 20120266705
Abstract: A fixed spool fishing reel having a handle shaft connected to a handle to be rotated thereby and coupled to a bail arm drive of the wheel so that rotation of the handle shaft causes rotation of the bail arm. The handle shaft is coupled to the bail arm drive via a gear mechanism that enables the gear ratio between rotation of the handle shaft and rotation of the bail arm drive to be selectively altered. Also, a fixed spool fishing reel having a spool shaft and two gear wheels respectively on opposite sides of the spool shaft, both gear wheels being coupled to be driven by a rotary handle of the reel and both being selectable to be the one which drives a spool shaft oscillatory mechanism of the reel, the coupling between each of the said two gear wheels and the mechanism being via respective gearing arrangements to impart different respective ratios of handle rotary speed to oscillatory speed of the spool shaft.

  • Patent number: 7267023
Abstract: A miter gear transmission includes a driving shaft, an idler cluster and a driven shaft. The idler cluster includes two cone-shaped gear sets, each having a proximate end with a gear having a largest number of teeth and a distal end with a gear having a smallest number of teeth. Gears with a decreasing number of teeth are located between the proximate and distal ends. The two gear sets are joined at their proximate ends. The idler cluster is suspended in bearings at a 45 degree angle between the driving and driven shafts with first and second spur gears slidably engaged to the shafts. Two actuator moves the spur gears along the shafts to engage the gear teeth of each of gears of the gear sets. By moving the spur gears to engage different gears, different gear ratios are achieved. A cable loop shifter moves the actuators along the shafts.

  • Patent number: 6786107
Abstract: A constant-mesh transmission having a synchronizing mechanism, the synchronizing mechanism including a fifth gear which acts as a shifter so as to rotate integrally with a counter shift and movably in the axial direction, a recess formed in a first gear, and a synchronizer ring. A first connection spline formed in the outer circumferential wall face of the recess and a first synchronization spline formed in the outer circumferential face of the synchronizer ring have a predetermined overlap portion, whereby they overlap partly in the axial direction. In the fifth gear, a second connection spline meshes with the first connection spline and a second synchronization spline presses the first synchronization spline in the axial direction to make the synchronizer ring and the first gear come into frictional engagement with each other.

  • Publication number: 20040083839
Abstract: This transmission operates by use of a drive shaft, that by being extendible and retractable, can vary in length. Gears on each end of the drive shaft deliver power from one of a number of concentric rings of gear teeth on a pedal drive to a similar arrangement on a wheel drive. The drive shaft by moving between these concentric rings can vary the gear ratios of the power delivered. A cam wheel and spring mounted ball bearings are employed to change the length of the drive shaft and especially, lift the drive shaft off of the pedal drive/wheel drive as it disengages and set it down to engage the next set of concentric gears. An alternative method to the use of a cam wheel that performs the same function is also described. This allows a radial taper to all engaging gears and a deeper seat.

  • Publication number: 20040050196
Abstract: The present invention provides a transmission mechanism with a caseless differential mechanism for an automotive vehicle to drive four wheels instead of two differential mechanisms of the prior art disposed on the front axle and rear axle. The transmission mechanism of the invention is of a compact structure and a relatively less cost of manufacturing, and makes a clearance between the chassis of the automotive vehicle and the ground increased. The performance of the automotive vehicle equipped with the transmission mechanism of the invention can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20040050195
Abstract: A treading type vehicle driving device includes a substrate, a first transmission assembly, a second transmission assembly, a treadle structure, a gear assembly and a position limiting plate. The straight-cut gear A can move reciprocally along the trenches of the slant-cut gears C1 and C2 so as to drive the straight-cut gear A to engage with the straight-cut gear B2 of the first transmission assembly (treading forwards), or to engage with the straight-cut gear D of the second transmission assembly 2A (treading backwards). When the pedal is treaded forwards and backwards, the vehicle moves forwards rapidly with less power. The straight-cut gear A will separate from the engagement of the straight-cut gear B2 or straight-cut gear D of transmission assembly since the teeth trench of the slant-cut gears moves on the slant-cut fan gear(forwards is C1 and backwards is C2); thereby, wheels rotate continuously.

  • Patent number: 6370977
Abstract: A transmission for a vehicle including first and second rotating shafts which are rotatable by the torque transmitted through a clutch. Each shaft includes several transmission gears. A resisting member can be disposed between a gear and its corresponding shaft, such that the resisting member reduces the difference in rotating speed between the first and second shafts. The resisting member serves to reduce shift shock and noise generated during shifting. Additional resisting members can be placed on either the first or second shaft in order to achieve reduced shift shock and noise.

  • Patent number: 5199738
Abstract: A landing gear for semitrailers includes a two speed double reduction gear assembly having fewer, smaller, and simpler parts, resulting in a compact double reduction gear assembly and cost efficient landing gear unit with a unique clutch-shifting mechanism to provide for shifting from one ratio to another. The double reduction gear assembly is disposed on and about in-line input and output shafts further resulting in an easy to crank and shift landing gear unit capable of achieving standard crank handle turn to vertical leg travel distance ratios. The low gear or low speed ratio of the landing gear unit can be varied within a broad range during manufacture, if desired, generally without increasing the overall size or complexity of the two speed double reduction gear assembly. The landing gear can further include a universal mounting feature and is durable and simple to use.

  • Patent number: 4658662
Abstract: A speed change transmission is shown in variation having an extremely wide range of selectively engageable speed drive ratios for use with garden tractors and utility cycles with tractor mode. The transmission also serves as a speed range transmission for use with a hydrostatic transmission in a garden tractor. In variation the transmission is shown with a new two speed PTO systme featuring selectively engageable rear, middle and front outputs. The transmissions and PTO system are extremely compact by virtue of an unique creep speed reduction train, a simplified constant mesh shift means, a PTO shaft journalled coaxially within a hollow transmission mainshaft and a minimum number of components arranged and adapted so that many serve multiple functions.
