    Abstract: A thermoforming trim press has one or more connecting arms for driving a movable platen, each arm having a pivotal connection between two adjacent sections of each connecting arm which is normally locked during normal press operation whereby the movable platen is able to move further back from a normal retracted position to increase the available clearance when changing or maintaining tools mounted on the movable platen. The pivoting ability of the connecting arm sections also simplifies adjusting the stroke of the press. A counterweight may be driven by the crank pins to match the press stroke adjustments and to thereby correspond the movement of the counterweight to the movement of the movable platen.

    Abstract: An anti-overloading device for use in a restraint-camming apparatus in which the apparatus includes a linear guide for guiding an associated operating member in reciprocating movement and a restraint cam for reciprocating the operating member in its movement has a toggle assembly that which is fixed to the operating member. The cam follower is engaged with the restraint cam to thereby put the restraint cam in a controlled restraint position between the cam follower and a counterpart cam follower roll that is fixed to the operating member. The toggle assembly permits the anti-loading structure can be reduced in size, still permitting the setting of an increased permissible load.

Each auxiliary rod includes an end hinged to a related main connecting rod, with the other end being joined to the structure of the machine by a sliding block and two conjugate profiles. One of the profiles is fixed and the other profile is mobile. The profiles form a rolling coupling, so that each sliding block that is hinged to the related ancillary connecting rod slides when the crank mechanism runs between two extreme axial positions.

The notching machine has an operating cycle which consists of alternatingly successive notching and notch-free steps which is attainable by means of a cylinder-piston unit activatable pneumatically or hydraulically which unit is in operative connection with an eccentric supported on a pin with the eccentric being the central fulcrum of the toggle joint. A second toggle joint with a counterbalancing mass is diametrically opposed to the ram with the second toggle joint being articulated to the eccentric. The central pivot as well as the points of articulation of the toggle joints to the ram and counterbalancing mass are disposed substantially in one plane.
