Abstract: An apparatus for preventing backlash in a gear train in a printing machine includes a shaft arranged on the printing machine and gearwheels with at least one gearwheel being arranged on the shaft for driving the shaft, and a brake having adjustable braking power, the brake being arranged on the shaft in a direction of drive of the gear train.
Abstract: A locking device for use in motor-vehicle steering systems, the locking device having a blocking mechanism by which a pitman arm shaft can be locked, a steering wheel of the motor vehicle can be prevented from rotating and vehicle wheels of the motor vehicle can be prevented from being turned or steered. The blocking mechanism includes two end positions, one of which is unlocked and one of which is locked, and is electromechanically operable. An electromagnet causes concentric external gear teeth of the pitman arm shaft to mesh with internal gear teeth of an axially movable and radially non-rotatable locking ring so that the pitman arm shaft is not rotatable in the locked state.

The rotatable eccentric (50) supports the first gear (20) for rotation about the first axis (22). Rotation of the eccentric (50) in a first direction (54) causes the first axis (22) and the first gear (20) to move toward the second axis (42). The torsion spring (70) biases the eccentric (50) for rotation in the first direction (54). The rotation blocking member (80) prevents rotation of the eccentric (50) in a second direction (56) opposite the first direction (54).
Abstract: A vehicle includes a receiver forming an aperture therein and having first and second gear racks at opposing sides of the aperture. A steering column armature assembly is received within the receiver aperture and includes first and second gears engaged with the first and second gear racks, respectively, in a manner to facilitate counter-rotation of the first and second gears as the steering column armature assembly is moved along the first and second gear racks. The first and second gears are selectively lockable together to prevent movement of the steering column armature assembly along the first and second gear racks. The first and second gears include an energy absorber positioned therebetween for dissipating energy when the first and second gears are forcibly displaced and counter-rotate with respect to each other in a high energy impact.

Abstract: A slewing ring brake for use in heavy machinery including earthworking machinery. The slewing ring brake includes a slewing ring with a tooth system and a support member which is mounted in a manner to allow rotary movement of the support member relative to the slewing ring. The slewing ring brake also includes a brake block displaceably mounted on the support member, the brake block being displaceable between a braking position and a freewheeling position. In the braking position, the brake block engages with the tooth system thereby preventing rotary movement of the support member relative to the slewing ring.
