Abstract: An interlocking drive plate for an anilox roll which incorporates a dowel pin with a bushing that is able to move slightly and rotate. The interlocking drive disc is similar in structure to the current structure of a drive disc for the Mark Andy P-Series printing presses. However, the stationary dowel pin has been replaced with a modified dowel pin which includes a bushing providing slight movement and rotation. The modified dowel pin, with slight movement and rotation, reduces the shear forces on the pin which in turn reduces the wear on the pin when rotated by a servomotor. This reduction in wear will cause the interlocking drive disc to last longer than traditional drive discs without the need for repair or replacement.

  • Patent number: 5596937
Abstract: It is frequently observed that when a real locomotive starts up, the front set of drive wheels commences to turn before the rear set of drive wheels begins to turn. The present invention is a simple device that permits this effect to be simulated in a model locomotive. The electric motor of the model locomotive drives a worm which turns a first gear. A second gear is mounted on the same shaft as the first gear but is not otherwise connected to the first gear. From the side of the first gear that faces the second gear, a pin extends at a particular radius. Similarly, two pins extend at the particular radius from the side of the second gear that faces the first gear. When the motor starts, the first gear turns immediately, but rotation of the second gear is delayed until the pin on the first gear strikes one of the pins on the second gear. In this way a delayed rotary motion is imparted to the second gear.

  • Patent number: 5497671
Abstract: A gear combination is disclosed in which a spherical body has a plurality of grooves defined therein into which a pin gear enmeshes. Substantially all the pins on the pin gear engage the grooves in the spherical body at all times. The spherical body rotates about a first axis and the pin gear rotates about a second axis. The grooves are cut into the spherical body by a computer-controlled milling machine. The groove is endless or eventually returns to its beginning position. The axis of the milling tool may be oriented at any angle with respect to the axis of the lathe head, since the resulting motion of the milling tool necessarily cuts whatever lissajous shape is dictated by the relative periodic motions of the lathe head and milling table. The pins in the pin gear thus follow the grooves defined in the spherical body so that the rotation of the pin gear relative to the spherical body mimics the relative motions of the lathe head and milling table when the spherical body was cut.
