Abstract: An engine cranking adapter having a plurality of different pinions for selective use with any one of a plurality of different engine cranking ring gears. The adapter is mounted to a wall portion of the engine structure adjacent the periphery of the ring gear and may substitute in such mounting for the normal starter motor. The adapter is provided with structure for facilitating manual controlled rotation of the ring gear as in servicing the associated engine. The adapter may be removably mounted to a bracket which, in turn, may be removably mounted to an engine wall portion adjacent the periphery of the ring gear.

  • Patent number: 4055092
Abstract: A gear wheel is provided with a safety release disc adjacent one face thereof, said disc having teeth formed as direct extensions of the gear wheel teeth. The disc teeth engage the same gear element as the teeth of the gear wheel but the disc is rotatable on the gear wheel axle. In the event of tooth wear or tooth breakage of the gear wheel the gear wheel will turn relative to the disc, which has no rotational load. This relative movement is utilized to trip signalling or locking devices as desired.

  • Patent number: 4042434
Abstract: A method is disclosed for firmly bonding together driving and driven gears. Bonding is accomplished by placing a thin layer of a thermal setting resin between the web faces of gears that are joined together by a multiplicity of spaced apart fasteners. The cured resin acts both as a load carrying joint and as a gasket.

  • Patent number: 4033198
Abstract: A highly safe device for reducing noise produced in gear wheel couplings in the motion transmission and distribution lines of wrapping and packeting machines operated at very high output speed. Two co-axial and opposite gears have the same number of angularly coincident teeth, one of the gears being formed of rigid metal material and the other consisting of tough and elastically yielding material.

  • Patent number: 3942918
Abstract: An improved rotor and gear assembly for rotary mechanisms of the trochoidal type, in which a rotor having a central bore is mounted for rotation on a shaft, and an internally toothed ring gear is secured to a side face of the rotor for engagement with a stationary gear to maintain phasing between the rotor and its trochoidal housing during the planetary and rotary motion of the gear within the housing. The ring gear is mounted on the rotor by resilient tubular pins circumferentially disposed, the pins being angularly slanted with respect to the rotor axis in such a manner as to maintain concentricity of the rotor and gear while permitting differences in thermal expansion therebetween, restraining the gear from axial displacement, and providing resilience for intermittent circumferential shock loading of the gear without imposing undue stresses or causing distortion of the gear or the rotor.
