  • Patent number: 6852065
Abstract: Because a shift lever device 10 uses attracting force of a fixed iron core 150A, 216A of a magnet 150 or an electromagnet 216 in switching between a lock state and an unlock state at a shift lock mechanism 118 and a key interlock mechanism 200, the mechanisms can be made compact. When a shift lever 12 is changed from a “D” shift position to a “4” shift position and when the shift lever 12 is changed from a “2” shift position to an “L” shift position, a link 30 is rotated in a same direction. Thus, a sliding direction of a slider 38 which detects a rotational position of the link 30 is only one, and a placement size of a detecting member 48 can be made small and the device can be made compact. Because the shift lock unit 88 is equipped integrally with shift lock mechanism 118, and the link 30, the slider 38 and the detecting member 48 of a sensing mechanism, the shift lock unit 88 can be made compact.

  • Patent number: 6843149
Abstract: A mechanical gear shifting mechanism capable of connection to a gearbox includes a shifter frame and a rotatable shaft mounted to the shifter frame. A ratchet drum having teeth is fixed to the shaft. A first cam disc formed with a slot in its main face is fixed to the shaft for rotation therewith. A shifting lever is connected to the shifter frame and is pivotable about an axis in first and second directions. First and second engagement pawls are connected to the shifting lever and positioned for engaging the teeth of the ratchet drum, whereby pivotal movement of the shifting lever induces rotational movement about the shaft's longitudinal axis. A pendant lever is engaged with the slot via a follower and has an end engageable to the gearbox. In practice, the end of the pendant lever would be connected to gear selectors of the gearbox.

Abstract: The present invention is a dual-detent shifting apparatus, comprising a supporting seat, an actuating piece, and a detent piece. The supporting seat has plural cable-winding positioning slots and plural cable-releasing positioning slots. The actuating piece is pivotally connected to the supporting seat and has a cable-winding detent suppressor and a cable-releasing detent suppressor. The cable-winding detent suppressor and the cable-releasing detent suppressor may be axially rotated with the actuating piece synchronically. The detent piece has a cable-winding detent and a cable-releasing detent. When the actuating piece is rotated from cable-winding position to cable-releasing position, the cable-winding detent suppressor may drive the cable-winding detent away from the cable-winding positioning slot and the cable-releasing detent suppressor may then drive the cable-releasing detent to be inset into cable-releasing positioning slot.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a centering device for elongated elements. It consists of a fixed position-retaining part (13) which exhibits a concave guiding surface (16), and a mobile position-retaining part (12) arranged on the elongated element, or conversely. The mobile position-retaining part (12) exhibits a pin (14) which is spring biased for contact against the concave guiding surface. The pin (14) is arranged in at least one casing, and is together with the casing arranged in a cavity (20) in a holder which is fixedly attached to the elongated element with a pin head (23) protruding out of an opening (24) in a front end of both the casing and the holder. The holder (15) exhibits a seat (38) with a guiding surface fora peripherally conical portion (36) of the casing. This is spring biased in the axial direction so that the conical portion strives to be in contact with the seat of the holder in and for centering of the casing and the pin relative to the longitudinal axis (21) of the holder.

  • Patent number: 6499375
Abstract: A manually controlled transmission includes a combined detent and interlock pin mechanism. The elongated interlock pin prevents surrounding shift fork extensions from being engaged when a desired shift fork extension is selected. A recess in the interlock pin allows engagement of a shift lever with a desired shift fork extension, and opposing sides of the interlock pin engage shift finger notches in the other shift fork extensions to prevent their movement. Detent springs attached to the manually controlled transmission substantially contact opposing ends of the sliding interlock pin to provide resistance as an end of the interlock pin substantially contacts the detent spring. An anti-rotate pin positioned proximate to the interlock pin prevents rotation, but not translation, of interlock pin.

  • Patent number: 6339968
Abstract: A shift lever apparatus comprises a shift lever connected to a gearbox of a vehicle, a rod integrally moved together with the shift lever within the shift lever due to shift-operation of the lever, a detent member having a detent hole formed therein, a restricting portion formed on the detent hole, and a base member supporting the shift lever in a pivotable manner. • Patent number: 6321615
Abstract: A top cover assembly for a manual transmission is provided having a plurality of gears and a reverse gear. The top cover assembly comprises a shift rail assembly, a reverse biasing assembly, and a shift housing assembly. The shift rail assembly includes a sensing device that interacts with a contoured surface for producing a first electronic signal in response to the shift rail being in a neutral position for range shifting. Another contoured surface acts to center the shift rail and an operatively connected shift lever. For reverse biasing, the shift lever has a first lower shift force when moved to shift at least one of the forward gears. An interlock supported by the shift rail and shift sleeve rotates with the shift rail and acts to lock out other gears during a gear shift. In one aspect of the invention, the interlock is also used for reverse biasing. A detent engages the interlock for creating a higher shift force than the first lower shift force when the shift lever is moved to shift the reverse gear.
