Abstract: There are several methods to propel moving force points on a pumping unit. One of the embodiments is propulsion utilizing permanent magnets. This invention can aid the several methods and provides the push start that allows initiating permanent magnet propulsion. This invention relates to an end return device for assisting positioning drives to actuate the continuous movement by mechanical means of moving force points to a desired advantageous position at a desired advantageous moment to achieve reduced net torque when lifting or lowering an unbalanced load with a beam with a fulcrum and connected to a load and an effort. In one embodiment, a walking beam well pumping unit, the lifting and lowering of the well load can be caused by the reciprocating motion of a beam tipping on a fulcrum and with moving effort force point, moving crank shaft force point, and moving beam weight force point.

Abstract: An improvement to the Waissi type opposed piston internal combustion engine is proposed. The engine has at least one pair of aligned and opposed cylinders with one reciprocating double-headed piston assembly in each cylinder pair. The reciprocating motion of the piston is transmitted to the driveshaft by a rotating crankdisk, which is off-centered mounted to the driveshaft. Abstract: The invention includes a conventional exercise bicycle with foot pedals, a chain drive system and a flywheel. Rotating with the flywheel is a first gear which is in mesh with a second larger gear. Located on the face of the second gear, but offset form the center of the gear, is an eccentric which supports reciprocating arms. Movement of the reciprocating arms by the exerciser causes rotation of the second and first gears and, consequently, the flywheel. The foot pedals or the reciprocating arms may independently operate the flywheel.

Abstract: A motion conversion apparatus 10 for converting continuous rotary motion into oscillatory, wide angle scanning motion is disclosed herein. The motion conversion apparatus 10 of the present invention includes a link 40 disposed to pivot about a pair of pivot points 33 and 35. The link 40 induces oscillation about a first axis of a member 11 coupled thereto thereby providing output oscillatory scanning motion. The apparatus 10 of the present invention further includes flywheel means 20 and 30 adapted to rotate about a second axis for causing the link 40 to pivot about the pivot points 33 and 35. A shaft 14 operatively coupled to the flywheel means 30 supplies input rotary motion.

Abstract: A rotatable arm carrying an operative member is pivoted on a main housing (10) for movement between a rest position and a work position. A rotary shaft (28) is also journaled in the housing and can be driven by a wound spring (34) for rotary movement, which is transformed into a reciprocating, partial rotation of the arm by a linkage comprising meshing gears (18, 22) on the arm and on a fixed axis, and a crank and slotted link (24, 26, 30) between said shaft and the gears. A first and a second locking units (12, 14) are mounted stationarily with respect to the housing, each comprising a spring-biased pawl (40, 42) to engage the arm when it reaches said rest position and said work position, respectively, and each being releasable by an external control.

  • Patent number: 4852872
Abstract: An exercise bicycle has a wheel axle which is journalled on a frame. Two swing arms are secured to two opposite end portions of the wheel axle. Two hand operated swing levers are mounted pivotally on the frame at their lower ends. Each of the levers includes an upper lever portion, a lower lever portion, and two parallel rods interconnecting the upper and lower lever portions for defining a slide slot therebetween. Each of the swing arms has a crank pin member on which a sheave is sleeved rotatably. Each of the sheaves has an annular groove of a generally V-shaped cross-section which engages with the arcuated inner side portions of the rods so that the sheave can slide smoothly in the slide slot. A suspended wheel is sleeved rotatably on the wheel axle by a hub. A front pulley is sleeved rigidly on the hub and is connected to a rear pulley by a v-belt. The rear pulley can be indirectly rotated by a user's hands and/or feet.

Abstract: An exercise bicycle has a suspended wheel which is sleeved rotatably on a wheel axle. The wheel axle has a first key-way formed in one end portion thereof, and two opposed second key-ways formed in two opposite sides of the other end portion of the wheel axle. One of the second key-ways and the first key-way are aligned with each other and formed in the same side of the wheel axle. Two swing arms are secured to respective end portions of the wheel axle. One of the swing arms has a first key engaged with the first key-way and the other swing arm has a second key which is selectively engaged with one of the second key-ways so that the first and second keys may be connected to the same side or opposite sides of the wheel axle. Two swing levers are mounted pivotally at their lower ends on a base frame and connected at their upper portions to the respective swing arms. When the swing levers are swung by hand in either the same direction or opposite directions, the wheel can be rotated through a transmission line.

Abstract: In a control device, especially for heating and ventilation systems in mo vehicles, comprising a rotatable control knob and a linearly movable setting member, a lever is provided for coupling the knob and member and converting rotational motion of the knob into linear movement of the setting member. To achieve this, the control knob 2 is provided with a guide slope extending at an acute angle to the axis of rotation. A shorter arm portion of the lever is controlled by the guide slope. A longer arm portion of the lever is actuated by movement of the shorter arm portion against the guide slope and acts upon a coupled setting member in a linear manner.
