A swivel tube (26) has a bore therethrough for movably supporting the rod (14) and has a convex spherical surface (28) slidably supported in the ball-shaped pocket for swiveling movement relative to the end fitting (18). The end fitting (18) embeds only a portion of the spherical portion (24) of the insert (20) for allowing the open end (30) to move radially to snap the convex spherical surface (28) of the swivel tube (26) into the ball-shaped pocket of the insert (20). The insert (20) includes an anchor flange (32) for anchoring the insert (20) in the end fitting (18).

Abstract: A bicycle cable guide system for maintaining axial tension in a straight portion of a flexible cable extending between a cable actuated bicycle component and a cable actuator consists of a straight length of axially and radially rigid tubing having first and second ends and an inner diameter greater than an outer diameter of the flexible cable receiving the straight portion of the flexible cable. A first axially fixed connector is operatively associated with the first end of the rigid tubing and a second axially fixed connector is operatively associated with the second end of the rigid tubing. A method of routing a flexible cable between a cable actuated bicycle component and a cable actuator includes providing a straight length of axially and radially rigid tubing, feeding a portion of a flexible through the axially and radially rigid tubing and fixing the ends of the axially and radially rigid tubing against axial movement.

Specifically, a front bracket 21 of the starter 2, which is attached to a transmission block 1 with a high positional accuracy according to an original purpose of improving engagement between a ring gear 32 and a pinion 23, and the anchoring bracket 22 defining the intermediate anchoring point position of the manipulation cable 4 are formed integral. By merely attaching the starter 2 to the transmission mechanism block 1 with a small number of parts, an accurate positioning of the anchoring bracket 22 with respect to an actuation point 1a is realized, thereby, a positional accuracy between the intermediate anchoring point position and the actuation point 1a can be improved.

Abstract: A bicycle brake cable system has a brake cable coupling arrangement in which a plurality of branches are provided from a single brake lever force application lug. Splitting of the brake cable is performed within the structure of a brake barrel adjuster. The barrel adjuster is provided with a cylindrical cavity that receives a rotatable coupler therewithin. The interface ends of the force transmission cable segments are terminated in the coupler, which is free to rotate relative to the barrel adjuster. As a consequence, the barrel adjuster may be threadably advanced to either increase or decrease brake tension by rotation relative to its threaded connection to the brake lever assembly body. By providing a coupler that is rotatable relative to the barrel adjuster, the barrel adjuster can be rotated in both directions to increase or reduce brake tension.

Abstract: A two-piece expanding lock control cable end fitting for connecting a co-axial cable assembly with a support structure. The first piece is a sleeve that is attached, typically by crimping, to the conduit member. The second part is a lock clip member. The lock clip member includes a base flange, a cylindrical portion and an inclined portion. During assembly the base flange on the clip member will contact the mating part and prevent the clip member from traveling through the mating part. The mating part could be a backing plate, a frame member, or brake lever component. When the clip member stops traveling through the mating part, the sleeve continues to move through the clip member. The end of the sleeve contacts the inclined portion of the clip member causing the clip member to expand. When the sleeve it is fully seated in the clip member, a locking feature on the clip member engages the sleeve to prevent removal of the sleeve from the clip member.
