Abstract: A cam assembly is disclosed which is used for the selection of different track positions for a magnetic tape head in a magnetic tape player/recorder. The tape track position of a magnetic tape head is determined by the position of a cam follower member which is selectively positioned with respect to a reference surface by selectively positioning a number of different diameter ball bearings between the cam follower member and the reference surface. Specifically, a solenoid actuated armature causes the linear movement of pawl members which in turn rotate a ratchet wheel member. The ratchet wheel member forms part of a cam apparatus that includes four ball bearings of different diameters. Sequential rotation of the ratchet member selectively positions ball bearings of different diameters between a non-rotatable reference surface and the cam follower member.

Abstract: The ejector pin for ejecting a workpiece from a die of a stamping machine is actuated by means of a cam shaft oscillated back and forth on the machine frame through less than one revolution, a radial cam mounted on the shaft, and a motion transmitting rocker carrying a cam follower. The stroke of the ejector pin can be set by angularly shifting the position of the cam on the shaft, the angular length of the cam shaft being greater than the angular spacing of the terminal shaft positions. The portion of the cam face first engaged by the cam follower during the working stroke of the ejector pin spirals uniformly outward from the cam shaft axis to an outermost position which is reached before the cam shaft movement stops.

  • Patent number: 4240464
Abstract: For maintaining a predetermined pressure at a controlled pneumatic device, a unit of this invention has a body with an inlet port connectable with a pressure gas source, an outlet port connectable with said device, a pressure chamber at all times communicated with the outlet port, and an annular valve seat through which gas can flow from the inlet port to the pressure chamber. The position of a valve element that throttles gas flow through the valve seat is controlled by a diaphragm having one surface exposed in the pressure chamber and a helical compression spring having an inner end bearing against the opposite diaphragm surface. A cam rotatably supported on the body controls the position of the other end of the spring, for quick stepless adjustment of spring preload and thus of outlet port pressure. An eccentric bushing enables calibrating adjustment of the position of the cam axis for either a maximum or a minimum outlet port pressure.

  • Patent number: 4201529
Abstract: The metering device comprises a roller having a plurality of parallel grooves spaced equidistantly around the circumference of the roller and extending across the entire width of the roller, and drive means for rotating the roller. The grooves are of uniform width and depth, and extend radially inwardly from the outer peripheral surface of the roller. A block of approximately the same width and length of each of the grooves is mounted for reciprocating movement in each of the grooves. As the roller is rotated each block is reciprocated radially of the roller within its groove by the interengagement of cam rollers projecting from each end of each block and cam tracks mounted adjacent opposite ends of the roller. Each groove is filled with dough when it is in its upper vertical position and its block is in its lowermost position within the groove. The dough is discharged from each groove on to a conveyor belt as the block within the groove is moved toward the periphery of the roller.
