Abstract: This invention comprises a rotatable annular probe-positioner which carries at least one radially disposed sensing probe, such as a Pitot tube having a right-angled tip. The positioner can be coaxially and rotatably mounted within a compressor casing or the like and then actuated to orient the sensing probe as required to make measurements at selected stations in the annulus between the positioner and compressor casing. The positioner can be actuated to (a) selectively move the probe along its own axis, (b) adjust the yaw angle of the right-angled probe tip, and (c) revolve the probe about the axis common to the positioner and casing. A cam plate engages a cam-follower portion of the probe and normally rotates with the positioner. The positioner includes a first-motor-driven ring gear which effects slidable movement of the probe by rotating the positioner at a time when an external pneumatic cylinder is actuated to engage the cam plate and hold it stationary.

Abstract: A converter for converting binary codes into mechanically controlled movements which contains adjustment means which by means of an outside signal source is given a special adjustment for each code, a plurality of sets of cam discs, mounted and axially displaceable on a common shaft and adjustable individually with respect to a zero position of the adjustment means, each set of cam discs is disposed with axial cams facing one another, and stopping means and entrainers cooperating with the adjustment means, and that a converter drive system comprises an axial arrangement of the cam disc sets arranged on the common shaft which passes through the converter and on which a cam disc forming part of a pair of cam discs of each set is journalled and driven in an oscillating movement by an indexing mechanism which is driven by rotating means to produce limited relative movements between the discs in the respective cam sets, transformed into axial displacements of the discs relative to the zero position.
Abstract: A valve rotator includes first and second parts which are mounted for movement relative to one another axially and rotatably along and about a longitudinal axis. Rotation imparting means is positioned between the parts for imparting a predetermined angular degree of relative rotation therebetween upon movement of the parts toward one another, and for imparting a different angular degree of relative rotation therebetween in an opposite rotational direction upon movement of the parts away from one another.
Abstract: A racket for use in games such as tennis, badminton, squash paddle ball, etc. having a head and a handle which may be detachably connected to said head at a throat. The head comprises a frame defining a stringing or ball contact area and a throat connected with the frame. The handle has an axially extending rotatable member, such as a threaded bolt. The bolt may extend beyond the handle for attachment to the head. An internally threaded insert is carried by said throat for receiving the bolt so that the handle may be secured to and detached from the head. Guide pins are provided on the handle for engagement with the throat so that the handle will be properly aligned with the head. Grip expanding structure is carried within a partially hollow handle so as to vary the diameter of the handle. The expanding structure includes radially movable wall plates and a rotatable element such as a rod axially carried within the handle.
Abstract: An automatic casting machine for automatically die casting and die trimming of zinc, aluminum, magnesium, lead or injection molding of parts and delivering the finished parts die trimmed free of flash and separated from the runners, gates and overflows into a finished parts receiver. The machine can be fabricated as a modification of a conventional die casting or injection molding machine, primarily by the addition of a centrally located indexing finger which becomes fastened to the sprew or bung upon casting or molding of the parts.
Abstract: The striker is mounted in a barrel for axial reciprocal movement thereby to impart successive hammer blows to the end of a tool shank element extending into one end of said barrel. An actuator is connected to the piston by lost-motion means. A motor driven, mechanical crank assembly is connected to the actuator for reciprocating the piston such that its velocity in the hammer-direction is greater than its velocity in the return-direction.
Abstract: A multiple step indexing mechanism having a rotary input and a rotary output and intermediate driving members with driving connections to generate a periodic dwell interval of the output member through the kinematic superposition of substantially linear and substantially harmonic motion components including those which include multiple harmonic components together with a dwell extension mechanism which includes timing means driven by the input member, a device for engaging and disengaging one of the driving connections, and a connection between the timing means and engagement device to effect disengagement within one of the periodic dwell intervals and re-engagement within another of the periodic dwell intervals.
Abstract: An axially reciprocable rotary spindle is mounted in the housing, and a first biasing arrangement urges the spindle in one axial direction outwardly of the housing. An impact member is mounted on this spindle for rotation with but limited axial displacement relative to the same and has an outer circumferential surface provided with cams inclined axially and circumferentially of the spindle and formed with one interruption per cam. A second biasing arrangement urges the impact member also in the aforementioned axial direction, and a fixedly mounted guide ring surrounds the impact member and forms a race for roller bodies corresponding in number to the interruptions and which roll in contact with the circumferential surface and the cam.
