  • Patent number: 6364525
Abstract: An x-ray examination apparatus has a base with at least one fixed part and one carriage that can be vertically shifted in relation to the fixed part. The carriage is provided with a horizontally projecting shaft, to which an apparatus component is mounted and which has a center axis around which the apparatus component can rotate. A pulley with a peripheral surface that is at least partially round is rotationally mounted to the shaft and is firmly connected to the apparatus component. A first pair of wheels is arranged at the fixed part of the base and a connector is provided to connect the pulley to the wheels so that whenever the wheels are respectively simultaneously rotated in different directions, the pulley and thus the apparatus component are vertically shifted and whenever the wheels are rotated in the same direction, the pulley and thus the apparatus component are caused to rotate around the center axis.

  • Patent number: 6326759
Abstract: A ball joint gimbal system which provides for a precise line-of-sight stabilization of a gimballed mirror that rides on a ball and its associated support structure. The mirror is positioned by four braided lines. The brained lines are driven by four servo motor with each servo motor being coupled to one of four capstan shafts. Each of the braided lines is wound around one of the four capstan shafts. The braided lines are positioned by optical shaft encoders. The low inertia of the gimballed mirror and the positioning of the mirror by the braided lines result in an extremely accurate and fast scanning optical pointing system. Inertial gimbal stabilization of the line of sight to a target is by a stabilization algorithm utilizing body rate information from body sensors which are components of the missile for providing autopilot and navigation functions for the missile.

  • Patent number: 6244124
Abstract: A gear assembly with variable speed ratio for a scanner comprises a base fixed on the bottom of the scanner, a first motor and a second motor arranged on the base, a rotary disk, a first gear set and a second gear set. The first motor and the second motor are connected to a power output gear and a driving gear, respectively. The rotary disk is arranged on the base, and has a toothed portion engaged with the driving gear. The first gear set and the second gear set each have a different speed ratio, and are arranged on the rotary disk. The second motor drives the rotary disk to selectively engage the first gear set or the second gear set with the power output gear to select the desired speed ratio.

  • Patent number: 6234036
Abstract: A roller mechanism that uses a differential spool arrangement to convert a small linear motion into a large rolling motion. The simplest embodiment comprises two spools that are rigidly connected together and are preferably of slightly different diameters. The flexible members such as string, tape, sheet, are rolled around the spools in opposite directions and extend from the spools in opposite directions. When tension is applied to the flexible members, a torque is created which acts to turn the spools so as to roll up the flexible member that is wrapped around the spool with the smaller diameter. The result is that a small movement of the flexible members results in large movement of the spools. Various embodiments of this mechanism are ideal for use in dampers, sunshades, toys, and exercise equipment.

  • Patent number: 6224508
Abstract: A trunnion (3) of a toroidal continuously variable transmission comprises a pulley (38) having a pulley groove (30) and a notch (37) crossing the pulley groove (38). The trunnion (3) rotates in synchronism with another trunnion by looping an endless wire around the pulley groove of each trunnion (3) and by engaging a large diameter part of the endless wire with the notch (37). After the trunnion (3) is formed by die forging, a rotary tool (90) is first aligned with a boundary interface (31′A, 31′B) between the pulley groove (30) and notch (37). The tool (90) is then rotated while it is moved forward in the axial direction of the tool (90), and the boundary interface (31′A, 31′B) is cut to a predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 6220106
Abstract: A take-up pulley for a carrier in an image processor has a drum-like section with a boss-like projection extending from one end. In one embodiment, a recess is formed at the other end of the drum-like section for receiving a bearing. A stopper flange is formed at the end of the drum-like section adjacent the boss-like projection. The take-up pulley can be formed by a suitable molding process such as extrusion using the mold adapted to be opened axially. The take-up pulley is fixedly mounted on the driving shaft in the housing of an image processor so that a gap G smaller than a diameter of a drive wire may be formed between the end surface of the drum-like section and an inner wall of the housing. In another embodiment, an annular stopper plate is affixed to the end of the drum section instead of the recess.
