Swaging Patents (Class 76/14)
  • Patent number: 9291225
Abstract: A brake backing plate is provided in which a non-compressible core material is sandwiched between two sheet metal stampings to make a lightweight, composite brake backing plate. Each of the stampings has a textured face with a plurality of integrally formed piercing members. By rolling or pressing, the piercing members of the textured faces are fully embedded in the core material, and thus lock the stampings and the core material together.

  • Patent number: 9273741
Abstract: A layered brake backing plate is provided made of stampings in which a softer, lighter metal core, such as aluminum, is sandwiched between skins of harder metal stampings, such as steel, to make a lightweight composite brake backing plate. The harder stampings are textured with integrally raised piercing barbs. By rolling or pressing, the barbs are made to embed in the core, locking the layers together.

  • Patent number: 7669332
Abstract: An endodontic reamer and a method for manufacturing endodontic reamers and files, more specifically an endodontic reamer having a cylindrical shaft and a working portion extending forward from a removed end of the shaft. The working portion includes, typically, a pair of wedged shaped projecting sections that extend beyond the diameter of the shaft. Forward from the wedge shaped sections is a nose, typically non-cutting nose, that has a diameter of about equal to diameter of the shaft. There are typically two (2) wedge shaped sections projecting outward opposite one another. Applicant also provides a novel method for manufacturing an endodontic reamer, which consists of using a two piece mold and placing a wire blank between the mold, followed by forcing the mold together, under compression, against the wire blank, to deform the blank into the shape of the mold parts.

  • Patent number: 5807106
Abstract: A method of fabricating an endodontic instrument having depth indicating calibrations formed between the handle and the fluted tapered end portion, and wherein the calibrations are formed by a cold rolling operation. The rolled calibrations do not form fracture points, they may be rapidly and inexpensively formed, and they have a smooth surface finish. Further, the rolled calibrations provide a sufficient physical indentation to be readily visible on x-ray photographs.
