Publication number: 20080307928Abstract: Circular saw blades are treated in a straightening machine for eliminating unevennesses in the saw blades. The machine is provided with rollers for straightening uneven sections of the saw blade (1). The straightening rollers are sets of balls (22, 22?, 23, 23?) which are pressed from both sides against the blade while a relative movement between the blade and the balls takes place. This movement may either be circular or along radial tracks of the blade. Alternatively, disc-shaped rollers are arranged with their axes perpendicular to a radius of the saw blade, and are running along radial tracks according to a relative movement between the saw blade and the rollers.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2004Publication date: December 18, 2008Inventor: Walter Oppliger

Patent number: 6745644Abstract: In installations for truing up band blades, band-saw blades must be precisely measured, in order to be trued up accurately. The band-saw blade to be trued runs over two deviation stations and is trued up in the upper linear guide area. The invention provides a saw-band guide section in order to measure the pre-tension in the saw blade which creates the desired bowing. The saw-band guide section is formed by two parallel guide bearers, each of which is subdivided into two sub-bearer sections. The band-saw blade is guided on bearing rollers between the guide bearers and guided by dead rolls which are mounted on pivoting carriages into a curve which corresponds to a clothoid arc. A measurement carried out by a measuring bar comprising sensors provides an extremely accurate, constant result in an area practically devoid of stress.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2001Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: Iseli & Co. Patent number: 6298762Abstract: Solid carbide segments are brazed to the rim of a steel body and then teeth are ground into them. This allows more teeth/inch on the perimeter and larger diameter blades than on previous carbide-tipped blades. The segments, which typically form an arc of a circle, provide the improved performance of carbide blades without excessive expense of solid carbide blades.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1999Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Inventors: John D. Patent number: 5522283Abstract: A circular saw blade straightening and tensioning machine has a set of straightening and tensioning rollers on both sides of a saw blade. The rollers are mounted on parallel shafts. Each shaft has a hub at its end, comprising a center portion horizontally eccentric with respect to the center line of the shaft, and a pair of side portions disposed on opposite sides of the center portion. Each of the side portions is horizontally eccentric with respect to the shaft center line, but in a direction opposite to that of the center portion. A roller is rotatably mounted on each of the center and side portions of the hubs. An actuator rotates each of the upper and lower shafts selectively ninety degrees in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. Rotation of the shafts selectively force a center roller against one surface of the saw blade while simultaneously forcing the side rollers against the other surface of the saw blade, thereby to level deformations in the blade.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1995Date of Patent: June 4, 1996Assignee: International Paper CompanyInventor: Ernest W. Patent number: 4887494Abstract: A set of two saw benching rolls. Each roll has a surface divided into two sections. One section is in the form of a convex surface and the other is in the form of a concave surface.
