Scissors Patents (Class 76/82.2)
  • Patent number: 10556324
Abstract: A base includes a top surface with an elongate slit formed therein. A grinder, such as in the form of a grinding stone, is located within the base and beneath the slit. The stone is in a slot in an undersurface opposite the top surface. The slot is angled to present a grinding surface of the grinding stone at an appropriate angle for forming a face surface in a trimmer blade at a desired angle. The slit has a flat side and an angled side to assist in having a trimmer blade held vertically and at a proper angle for forming of the face. The base includes a finger purchase area to hold the base adjacent to an underlying surface for stability while moving a trimmer blade within the slit adjacent to the grinding surface to form the face at the desired face angle adjacent to the trimmer blade tip.

  • Patent number: 8661690
Abstract: The invention relates to scissors and a sharpening device. The scissors include two blades, each blade having a cutting edge and a back edge which respectively form opposite longitudinal edges of the blade. A pivot connects the two blades for relative movement of the blades between an open condition in which the cutting edge of each blade are apart and a closed condition in which each blade are substantially adjacent and the back edge of each blade projects beyond the cutting edge of the other blade. The blades also include a sharpening condition in which the cutting edge of each of the blades can be sharpened. A biasing means is included for biasing the blades away from the sharpening condition towards the closed condition and/or the open condition. The sharpening device is for scissors including two blades having a cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 8485867
Abstract: An improved structure of a honing apparatus includes a body, a suction unit, a control unit, a driving unit, a connecting unit and a upper cap, wherein a base is formed at circumference of the body and a trough is formed in the middle of the base, and a sliding trough is formed at one side wall on the other side of the body and a first hone is formed at a top surface of the body. At center of one lateral surface of the suction unit has an extended pulling stick and an eccentric protruding portion is formed in the control unit, while the other lateral surface has an extended manipulating portion. The driving unit has a threaded stick that has a rotating button at one enlarged end. The connecting unit has a through opening at a closer end of a lateral surface and a threaded unit is inside the connecting unit and aligned with the through opening. A second hone is hingedly formed at a top surface of the connecting unit close to the other end.

  • Patent number: 8043143
Abstract: A sharpener for creating cross-grind knife edges includes a nominally flat annular abrasive sharpening member which could be a ring or a disk and is rotated about its center and held against a moving knife edge facet to simultaneously and sequentially abrade the knife edge at multiple locations on the abrasive member. The disk may be slidably mounted on a shaft in opposition to a spring restraining force. The disk is nominally disposed in a vertical orientation. The sharpener may include multiple stages including a manual stage having a pair of off axis conical shaped rotatable abrasive coated disks which have abrading lines on opposing facets which are not parallel but cross and intersect in a crossing pattern at the blade edge.

  • Patent number: 7465220
Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for cutting corrugations into the resharpened blade of a scissor. The apparatus comprises a rotatable corrugating wheel. The peripheral annular circumferentially disposed edge of the wheel defines a corrugating surface that is configured to abrade the sharpened edge surface of the scissor blade. The corrugating surface is formed by a substantially uninterrupted ridge that helically winds around the entire circumferential edge of the corrugating wheel wherein adjacent windings of the ridge are separated by a substantially uninterrupted recess that helically winds around the entire circumferential edge of the corrugating wheel. The corrugating surface can be formed in the circumferentially disposed peripheral annular surface of a circular steel disc that has been coated with a fine diamond coating or a fine ceramic coating or a combination of the two.
