Plastics Patents (Class 76/DIG7)
  • Patent number: 5595093
Abstract: A method of forming a rotary cutting die includes the following steps. A curved cutting rule transfer plate including an inner surface and an outer surface is provided. A cutting rule channel is formed in the transfer plate, and defines a predetermined design. A cutting rule having a cutting edge and a support edge is placed in the cutting rule channel. The support edge of the cutting rule extends from the inner surface of the transfer plate. A translucent rotary die place is formed on the inner surface of the transfer plate. The support edge of the cutting rule extends into and is supported in the rotary die plate. The transfer plate is then removed from the rotary die plate.

  • Patent number: 5201203
Abstract: A flat plastic key suitable for replacing a corresponding metal key having a key alignment groove disposed in a side of the key is configured to actuate a rotary cylinder lock having a rectangular lock entrance slot. The plastic key includes a head, a shank and a bit. The shortened key alignment groove extends along the side of the key creating a decreased key thickness adjacent to the groove. The shortened groove terminates in the key shank at a groove termination point to define a groove length less than the corresponding groove length of the metal key to thereby increase the volume and strength of the plastic key shank relative to the volume and strength of an exact plastic duplicate of the metal key shank to increase the strength of the plastic key and its capacity to transfer the input torque to the sidewalls of the lock entrance slot.
