  • Patent number: 11883871
Abstract: A pipe grooving device includes an assembly adapted to receive an end of the pipe. The assembly includes a cup which surrounds a pipe end stop. The cup and the pipe end stop may be mounted on a fixed pinion about which a carriage rotates. The carriage carries geared cams which engage the pinion and rotate synchronously when the carriage rotates relatively the pinion. The cams engage a pipe element received by the cup and form a circumferential groove in the pipe element. The cup and the pipe end stop move independently of one another axially along a pinion shaft to actuate rotation of the carriage. The cup accommodates dimensional pipe diameter tolerances and mitigates pipe flare and maintains pipe roundness during the grooving process.

Abstract: An apparatus for remediating water wells comprises a plurality of retractable cutting blades suitable for cutting openings in a well casing. The retractable cutting blades and corresponding drive mechanism are organized to be lowered through a well casing. At certain depths, the retractable blades are extended to cut openings in the well casing. The apparatus also includes inflatable retention elements both above and below the retractable blades to create a fluid seal within the well casing. A solidifying, waterproof slurry is injected to flow through the openings via a slurry delivery mechanism, and thereby create a waterproof barrier outside the well casing at the level of a waterproof confining soil layer.

  • Patent number: 8935973
Abstract: In an improvement to a pipe re-facing machine having a rotatable flange plate and a coaxially-mounted collar rotatable with and longitudinally movable relative to the flange plate, a support bracket projects from the flange plate, and a support block is retainingly mounted to and movable relative to the support bracket in an angled radial direction. The support block is adapted to receive a tool holder carrying a cutting element. An actuating mechanism is engageable with the support block such that longitudinal movement of the collar will move the support block relative to the support bracket. The actuating mechanism can thus move the cutting element in an angled direction relative to the axis of a tubular workpiece, thereby enabling machining of a bevelled edge on an annular shoulder of a tubular workpiece non-rotatably mounted to the re-facing machine by longitudinally moving the collar while rotating the flange plate.

  • Patent number: 8245610
Abstract: A device for cutting bar-shaped or tubular workpieces (1, 27), for example a peeling machine, is presented, in which, for the first time, the advance of the tools (7, 26, 44, 46) is brought about by a relative rotation between a toolholder (3, 25, 45) carrying the tools (7, 26, 44, 46) and an advancing sleeve (4, 24, 47). The toolholder (3, 25, 45) and advancing sleeve (4, 24, 47) are driven via gearwheels (19, 18) arranged on the same gear shaft (17) and having an oppositely oriented helical toothing. By means of an axial movement of the gear shaft (17), a relative rotation between the toolholder (3, 25, 45) and advancing sleeve (4, 24, 47) is achieved on account of the helical toothing. Moreover, it is proposed to use milling cutters (26, 44) as tools.

Abstract: A rotary cut-off tool has a hand-held housing. The housing has an open end centered on an axis and a housing abutment surface facing axially outward of the open end. A motor within the housing has an output shaft. A guard has a guard flange with a mounting hole. An arbor is configured to extend axially from the shaft through the mounting hole. A cut-off disk is receivable on the arbor. A spring has an installed position compressively engaged by and between the housing abutment surface and the guard flange, such that the spring releasably restrains the guard from swiveling about the axis.

  • Patent number: 6553874
Abstract: An improved pipe or core trimmer device which is adapted for a variety of electro-motor driven mechanisms for removing extraneous work material from annular rolls of prefabricated materials. The core trimmer uses an internal sliding shaft having a long taper portion that advances a cutter block containing a single blade portion. The blade portion delivers a clean cut to an extraneous core of material which is subsequently discarded by an ejector mechanism integrally mounted within a wall portion of the core trimmer. The extraneous material is ejected in a direction parallel a central axis coincident with a drive shaft without the need for intermittent translation or back and forth motion as required by similar conventional cutters. The core trimmer includes a cutter block and two cam followers which hold even pressure on two sides of the shaft, opposite the cutting blade.

  • Patent number: 6546832
Abstract: A brake lathe station has an on-vehicle brake lathe and a lift with support posts for raising a vehicle. A support structure supports the lathe while allowing it to be moved with respect to a horizontal plane about the vehicle to assist the lathe operator in positioning the lathe with respect to wheel hubs of the vehicle. The lathe is preferably connected to the support structure by an adjustable coupling which allows vertically tilting a lathe rotation axis of the lathe, as well as allowing rotation of the lathe substantially about its lathe rotation axis. The lathe can also be moved with respect to a vertical plane. The lathe can be floated with respect to the support structure while the lathe is mounted on the wheel hub. The coupling can be designed to allow attaching a dolly to the lathe while it is still supported by the support structure.

Abstract: A brake disk turning device accommodates runout using a front flange coupled to an adapter connected to the brake hub, and a rear flange fixed to a chuck of a lathe for turning the disk. Spacing adjusters are at equal intervals around the flanges for individually adjusting a spacing between the flanges at each interval to tilt the front flange with respect to the rear flange to accommodate the runout. Each adjuster has a toothed wheel and a retractable pin movable by an actuator to intercept the wheel to incrementally rotate the wheel during rotation of the flanges. A pinion connected to the wheel is meshed with a gear. Annular grooves with varying depth are provided between the gear and the front flange with balls therein for adjusting the spacing between the gear and front flange (9) depending on their rotation position.
