Abstract: A rotary knife fixture for cutting vegetable products into spiral shapes. The knife fixture includes a blade holder driven rotatably within a hydraulic product flow path. The blade holder includes at least one cutting blade, wherein the blade is twisted with a sharpened leading edge set at a desired pitch angle. By controlling the pitch angle of the blade in relation to the blade rotational speed and velocity at which the potato travels along the hydraulic flow path, the resultant spiral cut shape is selected. By using multiple cutting blades at known axially spaced positions and selecting the angular position of each cutting blade in succession, the number of spiral shapes cut from each potato is selected. The blades can have a nontextured straight-cut edge, or a textured crinkle-cut edge, or a combination.

  • Patent number: 8261646
Abstract: Transversal cutting machine comprises feeding means (20) that supply a log of paper (15), for example hygienic paper, to a sawing station at which rolls or stacks (16) are cut off from the log (15) by a blade (25). During the cutting step the log (15) is held by a clamping device (1), divided in two parts (2, 3) arranged respectively upstream from and downstream of a slit (17) through which the blade (25) passes. In particular, the first part (2) and the second part (3) of clamping device (1) are movable relatively so that during the cut the log (15) is locally subject to traction at the same time of the blade (25) driven in the log. This way, during the cutting action of the blade (25) an opening (17) is created on the log (15) having a size at least the same as the thickness of blade (25) same. This makes easier the action of blade (25) since it reduces the friction produced between the blade (25) and the log (15).

  • Patent number: 4224851
Abstract: A scrap knockout for use with a rotary punching apparatus includes a knife cylinder equipped with punch blades on the outer peripheral surface, and an anvil cylinder having a layer against which the blades are pressed, so as to punch a workpiece fed in between the two rotating cylinders. The scrap knockout is so arranged that each of the punch blades is formed with a cut or slot, and a scrap knockout lever is engaged with the cut or slot so as to be restricted in its upward and downward movements, with one end of the knockout lever is a free end located in the space surrounded by the punch blade and the other end is pivotally held by a punch blade support, so that the scrap formed by the punching can be removed by the upward motion of the lever.

  • Patent number: 4143567
Abstract: A saw, especially a circular metal saw, is equipped with a device for keeping open the gap cut by the saw blade. For this purpose two chucking members are arranged symmetrically to the right and left of the saw blade on one side of the workpiece and an abutment member is arranged on the opposite side of the workpiece and opposite the saw blade. Power drive means press the chucking members against the workpiece. The workpiece engaging elements of the chucking members may be pointed ridges or conical tips.

  • Patent number: 4116096
Abstract: A strip cutter apparatus for rolled sheet formed of rubber and elastomeric materials, comprising a transport device for the rolled sheet and a plurality of disc-shaped cutters arranged transversely with respect to the transport direction of the material. The cutters cut the rolled sheet into individual strips. A revolving brush is driven in the direction of transport and is provided after the cutters, viewed in the direction of travel of the rolled sheet. This revolving brush is arranged in such a manner that its bristles penetrate into the intermediate spaces between the cutters and displace away from the sides of the cutters any material which possibly has been raised by the cutters.
