  • Patent number: 10143246
Abstract: A method and system are provided for cutting and placing individual nose wires in a facemask production line. A continuous wire is supplied from a source to a cutting station in the production line. At the cutting station, the wire is engaged with a set of driven feed rollers that advance the wire at a first speed to a cutting roller, wherein the wire is cut into individual nose wires. The individual nose wires from the cutting roller are then engaged by a set of delivery rollers to deposit the individual nose wires onto a running carrier web. The delivery rollers are independently driven relative to the feed rollers and cutting roller such that the nose wires from the cutting roller are initially accelerated and transported away from the cutting roller at a second speed that is greater than the first speed and then decelerated and moved onto the carrier web at a third speed that is less than the first speed.

  • Patent number: 9555996
Abstract: A method and a device for trimming printed products on the front edges and/or on the lateral edges. The products are inserted into moved receiving compartments along a closed circuit, the compartments being open on at least one side, and include blades moved along in this region, which act together with stationary counter blades. The depth of insertion of the products is restricted by a support such that the front edges of the products are in the direct vicinity of the open side of the compartments, advantageously protruding with their front edges over the moved along blades for the frontal trimming. The edges of the products extending perpendicular to the folded edge are fixed prior to carrying out a trimming by way of a clamping and moving arrangement and only released for the passing on of the printed product.

  • Patent number: 9468998
Abstract: The present invention discloses a rubber band machine. The length of a rubber band to be conveyed may be set by controlling the angle of rotation of a first motor. The rubber band input by a first feeding drive wheel is stored between the first feeding drive wheel and a second feeding drive wheel so that the second feeding drive wheel coordinates with a looping device to continue to output the rubber band. During feeding, the rubber band machine can perform joint examination and ironing to the rubber band, and automatically cut the rubber band off at the discharge port of the second feeding drive wheel via a cutting device. The looping device grips the rubber band via a third gripper and moves rotationally to convey two ends of the rubber band to a first gripper and a second gripper, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5193425
Abstract: Chip-impalement spears for rotary cutters are provided in a rectangular shape with a single sharp bevelled edge along the top of the spears and adapted to be placed parallel to a roller of the rotary cutter. The spears are embedded in one roller and arranged so that their sharp edges will come into slight contact with an opposing roller. Properties of the spears, in particular, hardness, are selected to enable the spears to be rapidly bent over in use, forming a chip-retaining barb. Spears having this capability may be obtained by making transverse cuts across a cutting rule.

  • Patent number: 5181444
Abstract: A multi-barb pick for a waste stripping machine. The pick is formed from a flat sheet metal piece. Two spaced triangular projections, generally parallel, extend from one section of the piece, with each projection terminating in a barb. Each barb is generally rectangular in form and two adjacent edges thereof are sharpened along each surface thereof. The barb is employed in a conventional waste stripping apparatus for removing cut sections from a paperboard web of indefinite length.

  • Patent number: 5155981
Abstract: A device comprises an arm pivoting on and supported by a shaft positioned between a station, where a sealed blister strip is cut into individual blister packs, and a blister pack infeed conveyor. The arm is made up of two pieces fitted with suction cups, and oscillates between two positions, so that in a first position the suction cups are at the cutting station, on a smooth surface of a blister pack just cut, while in a second position they are at the side of a pickup bucket, on the infeed conveyor. The suction cups are actuated in the first position, so that the blister pack can be picked up, and then the suction cups are disenabled in the second position, so that the blister pack can be fed into the bucket, with deep-drawn blisters turned upwards. Sidepieces provide for centering the blister pack in respect of the longitudinal axis of said infeed conveyor, while infeeding the blister pack into the bucket.

  • Patent number: 5113732
Abstract: A wire piece forming device includes a wire piece dispenser with a cutting mechanism, a receiver member which receives wire pieces from the dispenser and a take-over member. The wire piece dispenser includes a feed device for the stepwise feeding of the wire. The device includes feed wheels which are driven intermittently by a four-bar linkage and a freewheel. A wire guide member is provided to ensure that the beginning of the wire is reliably inserted into a groove-like recess in a receiver member. The groove-like recess is open at its bottom. Before a wire piece is cut off by a cutter, the groove-like recess is closed by a take-over member moving past the opening of the recess. The take-over member then takes the separated wire piece and carries it away.

  • Patent number: 5054346
Abstract: The running web of tipping paper in a filter tipping machine of the tobacco processing industry is repeatedly severed by successive knives on a rotary carrier while the leader of the web is attracted to the peripheral surface of a counterknife. The peripheral surface of the counterknife is provided with axially parallel grooves flanked by internal surfaces one of which cooperates with the cutting edge of a knife to progressively sever the web in a direction from one marginal portion toward the other marginal portion. The cutting edges of the knives are inclined with reference to the axis of rotation of the carrier in the radial direction as well as in the circumferential direction of the carrier. A rotary eccentric is provided to shorten and lengthen the path of movement of the web toward the counterknife in order to establish gaps between successively separated uniting bands and the leader of the web.

  • Patent number: 4993211
Abstract: A high speed apparatus for cutting and wrapping soft chewing gum comprises a plurality of substantially parallel cutters having cutting heads to cut the gum into relatively thin rectangular-shaped pieces. The cutters are moved to a position where each individually shaped piece of gum is placed into a nest on a wrapping tray with a wrapper located therebetween. The cutters are moved in an eccentric ovoid path by a ring wheel and grooved cam wheel arrangement which causes the cutting heads to separate and move back together as they move through a cycle. During placement of the stick of gum in the nest, a flat side of the shaped piece of gum is urged against the flat bottom of the nest. The apparatus further comprises an apparatus to complete wrapping the wrapper around the piece of gum.

  • Patent number: 4919028
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shearing machine in which the upper shearing blade can be easily adjusted and positioned. The upper blade is held on a pivotal plate member which is pivotally held on a ram by means of a hinge means to be rotated to adjust of the position of the upper blades. In addition, a hold down member is provided for holding a work-sheet. The hold down member is arranged to be urged by a toggle joint to hold the work-sheet at a reduced speed with an increased force after coming into contact with the work-sheet. A scrap removal member is also included in the shearing machine such that scraps can be easily removed without mingling them with the finished sheets. The scrap removal member removes scrap without idle time between feeding the work-sheets to be sheared. The shearing machine is so arranged that scraps are taken away directly to a scrap box as soon as the work-sheet has been completely sheared into its finished product.

  • Patent number: RE34328
Abstract: In an apparatus for helically slitting a continuous tubular film of synthetic thermoplastic material, a pair of feed rollers for feeding flattened continuous tubular film to a mandrel are mounted at fixed locations in a main frame. A rotary support mounted in the main frame carries the mandrel which consists of spaced apart low-friction bars disposed in a circular array concentric to the axis of rotation of the rotary support. A cutter is adapted to slit the tubular film as it traverses the mandrel. The axis of rotation of the support is aligned with the nip between the feed rollers approximately at the center of their length. A reversing rod and a deflecting or guide roller are connected to the rotary support for guiding the slit film from the mandrel to a winder. The winder has a winding axis aligned with or intersecting the axis of rotation of the rotary support at a right angle. A spreader for opening out the film is disposed between the feed rollers and the mandrel.
