  • Patent number: 4833954
Abstract: A plate subdividing and sorting machine includes a variegated subdividing device which subdivides the respective plate blank into final products arranged in the thus subdivided plate blank in respective longitudinal and transverse strips. The subdivided plate blank is shifted onto a stripping-off tray with which there is associated a stripping arrangement which strips the respective longitudinal strips off of the stripping-off tray and onto distributing roller conveyors which distributes the final products of the respective longitudinal strips in a sorted manner in accordance with their sizes to a plurality of adjacently arranged supply roller conveyors. The stripping arrangement includes a stripping blade which is movable, for the reduction of the cycle time, together with the remainder of the stripping arrangement, to at least two of the distribution roller conveyors that are arranged at a distance next to one another to deposit the longitudinal strips thereon.

  • Patent number: 4773148
Abstract: A portion of an endless tying band around a package is displaced from the package thus defining a space between the portion of the tying band and the package. Then, a guide plate is inserted into the space, and the tying band is pressed by the guide roll against the guide plate to grip the tying band between the guide plate and the guide roll. The tying band which is gripped between the guide plate and the guide roll is then severed by a cutter blade. The guide roll is located to deliver an end of the severed tying band for thereby removing the severed tying band from the package.

Abstract: Two pairs of opposed feed rolls are rotatably mounted on the upstream and downstream sides, respectively, of a bar cutting mechanism with respect to the predetermined traveling direction of the bar. Each feed roll pair comprises a fixed feed roll on one side of the bar and a movable feed roll on the other side, with the movable feed roll being movable toward and away from the fixed feed roll. • Patent number: 4090703
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for feeding rectangular metal sheets from a supply to a cupping press in which can body blanks are cut and drawn from the metal sheets. The apparatus includes a table providing a flat conveying surface, and three sheet feeding mechanisms are provided at locations along the table between the opposite ends thereof. A sheet to be transferred is deposited on one end of the table and is transferred therefrom to a second position by an endless chain and feed finger arrangement. At the second position, the trailing edge of the sheet is engaged by a reciprocating feed finger arrangement to advance the sheet one step to a third position on the table in which the sheet is accurately spaced longitudinally relative to a reference point in the press.

  • Patent number: 4056023
Abstract: A machine for continuously cutting a web of paper or the like into sheets of different length and then sorting and stacking the sheets includes an improved tape-type delivery means for receiving and conveying the different length sheets from the cutting zone of the machine to the sorting and stacking zones of the machine in equally spaced relation and at tape speed. The sheet receiving and conveying means comprises a plurality of pairs of equally spaced nip rolls, each of which includes a nip opening and closing mechanism, which are mounted on the machine for fore and aft movement in the direction of web travel for receiving and conveying sheets in the range of from about 20 to 80 inches in length.

  • Patent number: 4027769
Abstract: A process and machine are disclosed that function to convey a pair of elongated sector shaped pieces where each piece has substantially the same smaller included angle. Upper and lower conveyancing channels are supported on a framework and have a common longitudinally extending adjustable support means whereby sector pairs of varying included smaller angles may be readily oriented and then conveyed. Suitable holding means are provided for constraining each sector piece in its conveyancing channel as they are conveyed longitudinally toward the outfeed end of the machine.

  • Patent number: 4027563
Abstract: Precision guide means for accurately directing lumber to and/or receiving cut lengths from saws. The guide means is mounted for selective movement by setworks back and forth across a path along which the lumber moves. A closed hydraulic system includes piston-cylinder units with a unit near each of opposite ends of the guide means. One end of each cylinder unit is fixed against movement and the opposite end thereof is connected to the adjacent end of the guide means, and pipe means interconnects these cylinder units so that when the guide means is moved, hydraulic fluid is transferred from an end of one of the units to an opposite end of another unit to ensure that both ends of the guide means move exactly the same distance. The guide means can be a linebar and a tailbar interconnected by the hydraulic system so that they are moved in unison exactly the same distance by the setworks. The guide means can be or include a relatively long splitter.

  • Patent number: 4022087
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for blanking products from pliable sheet material where the material to be cut is supported on a planar support member within the peripheral shape of the final product and after the blanking process has been completed a product-discharge roller is moved through an aperture in the supporting surface to lift the cut product clear of the cutting edge and discharge the product from the cutting apparatus. Additionally, the cutting edge has a portion which separates the cut product and its peripheral waste from incoming material and the peripheral waste is positively discharged from the apparatus by a conveyor arrangement located externally of the cutting edge which defines the products peripheral shape.

  • Patent number: 3990335
Abstract: A machine for trimming the edges of a panel in which the panel is introduced on a table of belts to a pair of spaced saws which trim the side edges of the panel, the panel being then passed through a device which increases its speed and separates it from succeeding panels and onto a rack which when the panel reaches a predetermined position descends to carry the panel to the bed of a carriage where it is clamped in squared position so that when the carriage is moved to carry the clamped panel past a second pair of spaced saws the end edges of the panel are trimmed preferably at an angle of 90.degree. from the sawed side edges of the panel.
