Abstract: An ampoule opener has an opening unit and a cover unit. The opening unit is a rigid frame and has two panels, two head-clamping holes and two pairs of wave-shaped flanges. The panels are respectively an upper panel and a lower panel. The head-clamping holes are elongated in length and tapered in width and are respectively formed through the panels. The pairs of wave-shaped flanges are formed between the panels and the head-clamping holes. The cover unit is flexible, is detachably mounted around the opening unit and has two covering boards, a mounting recess, two body-clamping holes and two pairs of wave-shaped edges. The body-clamping holes are elongated in length and tapered in width and are respectively formed through the mounting boards and communicate with the mounting recess. The pairs of wave-shaped edges are formed between the mounting boards and the body-clamping holes.

  • Patent number: 6601492
Abstract: A method and devices are disclosed for punching one or more holes in extruded hollow profiled bars (50; 70; 270) where a back-up matrix (42; 150-550) must be inserted and located in precise alignment with the punching male punch (66; 90) die. Accordingly, the matrixes are mounted to portable mandrel rods (40; 140) provided with settable stop brackets (44; 146). The rods are placed in their exact operative punching position, and removed therefter for processing the next bar. The method further provides for simultaniously punching holes in more than one wall of the profiled bars.

  • Patent number: 6561065
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for punching holes at any location along the length of an elongate hollow body comprising an expandable die which is insertable into the elongate hollow body. The elongate hollow body may have any shape and be of any length. In operation, the expandable die cooperates with the punch or punches of an external, conventional punch press. The expandable die self-aligns its die cavity or cavities with the punch or punches of the external punch press. The expandable die can expand to support the elongate hollow body during the punching operation to avoid denting or other damage to the elongate hollow body.

Abstract: A device for shaping and reconditioning a cue stick tip includes a hand-held housing defining a bore having an open end configured to receive the tip of the cue stick. A cutter includes a shaft extending outward of an aperture of the housing opposite the open end, and two blades. Each blade is curved upwardly from a center line thereof to form a concave cutting edge. A handle is removably connected to the cutter for manually rotating the cutter. The cutter forms a convex shape to the tip of the cue stick when the tip is placed into contact with the cutter and the cutter is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4982490
Abstract: A method of lining a main fluid conduit 1 having a branch conduit 2 and apparatus for use in the main conduit includes a carrier 7 which is longitudinally displacable in the conduit 1. A portion 9 of the carrier is rotatable above a longitudinal axis and carries a scissors-type extendible linkage 10 having a platform 11. By rotation of the portion 9, displacement of the carrier 7, and extension of the linkage 10, service structure on the platform 11 can be maneuvered to be located in the branch conduit 2. The service structur=e may be a water jet cutter or a locating member 15 having a chamber which is expandible by fluid pressure to engage the sides of the conduit 2 and be retained therein. The locating member 15 includes a metallic part which a metal detector can detect through a lining which is fitted in the main conduit 1 to determine the position at which a port has to be cut in the lining to coincide with the branch conduit 2.

  • Patent number: 4802393
Abstract: The subject piercing die is particularly adapted for piercing a hole in a blank having an open interior and an outer wall defining a closed figure. The piercing is done from the interior of the blank through the wall to the outside of the blank. The piercing die includes a base with a slide movably mounted on the base. A guide is movably connected to the slide to control movement of the slide to a straight line movement. A female die having a blank receptacle for holding the blank is mounted on the base. The female die has a cutting aperture extending through a portion of the female die and intersecting the blank receptacle. A male die is mounted on the slide and is positioned within the blank receptacle for mating with the cutting aperture to cut a hole in a blank positioned in the receptacle. The male die cuts a hole in the blank from the interior of the blank through the outer wall to the outside of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4744276
Abstract: This invention provides a method of and apparatus for punching apertures in the walls of square sectioned steel tube. An elongated square sectioned mandrel is supported horizontally by and is connected at a rear end to roller decking so that a square tube can be fed onto the mandrel and can be used to feed the tube off the mandrel step by step, while between steps the tube is punched at the front end of the mandrel by a punch die on a punch head which moves laterally of the mandrel and into a punch recess in the mandrel. The punch head also has a guide pin which engages a guide recess in the mandrel before the punch die engages the punch recess to ensure that the punch die and punch recess are accurately aligned and that the apertures will be evenly spaced along the length of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4599924
Abstract: A process and device for producing a bearing eye or a transverse perforation in the clevis of the actuating rod of a brake power booster. The assembled brake power booster is inserted in a locking frame of the device, the clevis being retained at a cutting tool provided in a locking frame at a desired design distance of the clevis from the fixation flange of the booster casing. Upon insertion of the booster in the locking frame, the legs of the clevis are punched by a cutting punch so that in a single process step, a transverse punch hole or perforation to receive the pivot pin of the brake pedal is made maintaining a close tolerance to the desired design distance, i.e. independently of the specific position of mounting of the actuating rod and independent of the distance between the end of the clevis and the fixation flange of the booster casing.

The apparatus includes a frame and a plurality of rollers rotatably coupled to the frame for receiving and movably supporting the circumferential surface of the can. A cutter is provided for cutting along the circumferential surface of the can. A guide is coupled to the cutter and to the frame in known registration with the rollers for movably guiding the cutter along the desired cutting path over the circumferential surface of the can.In a first preferred embodiment of the present invention the rollers are arranged so as to allow the can to rotate about its central cylindrical axis. The rollers are elongated and cylindrical in form and each has an axis of rotation generally parallel with the central cylindrical axis of the can.
