Patent number: 10843360Abstract: A fruit cutting apparatus includes an appliance housing having a bottom wall a body portion extending upwardly therefrom. A cutting chamber is coupled to the appliance housing and includes a continuous side wall defining an open top and bottom. A rotating platform assembly is coupled to the appliance housing and has a second portion extending upwardly into the cutting chamber, the rotating platform assembly including a support surface having a plurality of prongs configured to impale and secure the fruit piece. A cutting blade is positioned in the body portion and is slidably movable between deployed and retracted configurations. An input assembly enables selection of a cutting style, each selection being associated with programming instructions that cause a processor to selectively actuate the blade to deploy, orient its blade tip, and actuate the rotating platform to rotate the fruit piece as it is cut as selected.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2020Date of Patent: November 24, 2020Inventor: Michelle J. Patent number: 8109188Abstract: Modified slicing shoes and method for making food product shavings. A conventional slicing shoe for insertion into a slicing head assembly used in conjunction with a centrifugal type slicing machine is modified. The modified slicing shoes comprise a cutting edge having top and bottom ends that protrude towards the interior of a slicing head assembly as a vertex protrudes away from the interior such that the blade is not confined to one plane. In one embodiment, the slicing shoe blade cutting edge and its components comprise a V-shape having an angle that ranges from between about 90° to about 140°. In a second embodiment, the slicing shoe and its components are curvilinear having a curvature ranging from about 1.5 cm to about 2.0 cm. The shape of the blade and its corresponding components allow for the production of snack chips having folded or curled shapes.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2008Date of Patent: February 7, 2012Assignee: Frito-Lay Trading Company GmbHInventors: Santiago Bellmunt-Molins, Nieves Calvo-Frias, Juan Ignacio Corujo-Martinez

Patent number: 7883666Abstract: A dissection apparatus is disclosed. The dissection apparatus includes a supporting mechanism, a holder, a driving element rotating the holder, a cam fixed to the supporting mechanism, a first sliding element, a second sliding element, a dissecting device disposed on the first sliding element, an aspirating device disposed on the second sliding element. When the holder rotates to move the dissecting device from a first idle position to an operating position, the first sliding element is lowered by the guide of the cam enabling the aspirating device to move from the operating position to a second idle position. When the holder rotates to move the aspirating device from the second idle position to the operating position, the guide of the cam lowers the second sliding element, thus, allowing the dissecting device is able to move from the operating position to the first idle position.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2007Date of Patent: February 8, 2011Assignee: Industrial Technology Research InstituteInventors: Chun-Chien Ting, Jan-Hao Chen, Yeou-Bin Guu

Publication number: 20110011228Abstract: A cutting method and an apparatus are provided which enable a rim area or other part of a vitreous silica crucible to be cut off so as to leave a smooth cut surface without damaging the cut edge, etc. The apparatus for cutting a vitreous silica crucible comprises a disk-shaped cutting blade (10) disposed sideways with respect to the vitreous silica crucible, a means for rotating the cutting blade (10), a cutting-blade moving means which moves the cutting blade (10) in a circumferential direction for the crucible, and a means for rotating the crucible (20). Without rotating the crucible (20), the cutting blade (10) being rotating is brought into contact with a surface of the crucible wall and pushed forward in the wall thickness direction to make a cut piercing the crucible wall. The cutting blade (10) is moved relatively to the crucible (20) in the circumferential direction for the crucible (20) while keeping the cutting blade in the state of piercing the wall.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2009Publication date: January 20, 2011Applicant: JAPAN SUPER QUARTZ CORPORATIONInventor: Masaru Sato

Patent number: 7752947Abstract: A method of cutting or trimming a plastic log ejected from a blow mold to form multiple open-mouthed bottles, the log having respective bottle portions on opposite ends of the log with each bottle portion having an offset neck and the bottle portions connected in neck-to-neck relationship by a neck ring having a central neck axis, that is especially suitable for high-output production lines. A log conveyor is continuously moved along a path. The body to be trimmed is placed between holders carried by the conveyor and trimmed by rotating the holders about the offset neck axis as the conveyor moves past a trim knife extending along the path.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2007Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Graham Engineering CorporationInventors: David N.
