  • Patent number: 11904492
Abstract: The present invention is configured such that an adjustment nut for fixing spacers and blades repeatedly fitted to a shaft is provided with at least two concentricity adjustment screws, and, with the spacers and the blades fixed by the adjustment nut, the spacers and the blades are pushed by the concentricity adjustment screws in the direction of the shaft to enable concentricity adjustment, and thus, without causing defects, the blades are protected and can be used for a long time. In particular, according to the present invention, while one side shaft with respect to a diagnostic sheet is elastically supported, position adjustment in the longitudinal direction thereof is possible, and also projections are formed on the peripheries of the surfaces of the spacers facing the cutting edges of the blades thus to provide extra spaces for the blades in which the blades move, thereby preventing the deformation of cut strips and the damages on the blades.

Abstract: This invention provides a slitter assembly with automated adjustment of slitter elements that allows for driven rotation of elements on the associated drive shaft during operation while enabling the elements to be moved freely along the drive shaft during setup and subsequently secured to the shaft free of lateral movement. This ensures that adjustment of the slitter elements is accurate, repeatable and reliable. In an illustrative embodiment, the slitter elements each comprise a pair of coaxial members including a blade member and a locking member. The blade member contains a slitter blade and overlies the locking member which is nested therewith. The locking member directly engages the drive shaft surface with a wedge assembly structure. The members are spring-loaded with respect to each other so that the two surfaces are normally biased to cam together and exert a hoop stress on the drive shaft.

Abstract: A rotary knife holder for a longitudinal slitter in which a rotary knife disc 8 is displaceable relative to a second rotary knife disc 10, co-operating therewith, by separate pneumatic cylinders 12 and 14 to which air is supplied by a common controllable feed line 26 against a resilient restoring force initially radially and then axially. To achieve instant response, to permit the feed speed and feed force for the cylinder 14 to be as independently adjustable as possible and, in addition, to avoid any slip-stick effect in the axial feed movement, an adjustable reducing valve 38 is connected prior to the cylinder 14. This reducing valve 38 is double-acting and is filled with a damping fluid which, during the feed stroke, is expelled through a throttle member 50 into an air vessel 52.

  • Patent number: 4313359
Abstract: A device cuts vertically fed paper against a cutting edge by means of a carriage driven cutting wheel. There is a chute means downstream from the cutting edge and secured to a pivotable guideway bar, rotated by movement of the carriage during cutting operation. The paper is held against the cutting edge during cutting on one side by the chute means which tilts the paper to be cut toward a deposit tray and on the other side by a pivotable flap biased by a pressure roller mounted on the carriage. In the non-cutting mode, the flap and chute are substantially coextensive to help provide a gap-free pathway for paper being fed into the device.

  • Patent number: 4257299
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting a running web of paper or the like has a rotary disk-shaped first knife and a driven counterknife. The first knife is rotatable on a shaft which constitutes the piston rod of a double-acting pneumatic cylinder and piston unit. The cylinder of such unit is connected with a second piston rod forming part of a single-acting cylinder and piston unit. The control system for the two units includes a shutoff valve which can admit compressed air to the single-acting unit whereby the pressure in a first conduit which connects the source of compressed air with the single-acting unit rises when the second piston rod reaches an end position in which the marginal portion of the first knife overlaps but is remote from the marginal portion of the counterknife. A second conduit thereupon admits compressed air to the double-acting unit in order to move the first knife axially against the counterknife.

  • Patent number: 4257298
Abstract: Apparatus for cutting paper sheets wherein a first knife, which is freely rotatable on a shaft, is movable sideways toward and away from a driven counterknife. The shaft is reciprocable in a carrier which is connected with one end of a reciprocable and turnable piston rod. The piston rod extends into a cylinder and is reciprocable by a spring and a membrane-like piston. The orientation of the first knife with respect to the counterknife can be changed by turning the piston rod with reference to the cylinder so that the piston rod can assume and is held in any one of several angular positions. To this end, the piston rod is rigidly connected with a radially extending projection which is disposed between two rollers mounted in the cylinder for movement at right angles to their axes. One of the rollers is biased against one side of the projection by a helical spring, and the other roller is movable at right angles to its axis by an adjusting screw which meshes with the cylinder.
