Patent number: 8490268Abstract: The invention relates to a method for laser-cutting sheet steel (1), wherein a sheet steel (1) is gradually inserted in a defined position into the cutting area (2) of a laser cutter in a direction of advance V in order to machine it. The sheet steel (1) is machined by laser cutting in a machinable area corresponding to the length of the cutting area (2), in the entire machinable area or only in a section thereof. The machined part (8) and the non-machined part (8) of the sheet steel may also only overlap in some sections (10). An automatic discharge device is also provided. The manufactured parts and the remaining grid are likewise cut from the sheet steel (1) by laser cutting. Patent number: 6536318Abstract: In a method and apparatus for rotating loose laminations in a loose lamination die, a strip is fed through the die to a rotatable blanking chamber of a blanking station. There, a punch engages with a die ring to punch a lamination free from the strip. The rotatable blanking chamber is biased in an upwardly direction. When the punch is not engaging with the die ring, the rotatable chamber is in an upward position wherein a gap develops between laminations retained at a bottom of the rotatable chamber, and those laminations lying directly below the rotatable chamber. The rotatable chamber can then be rotated without damage to the laminations at the gap because of the presence of the gap. Thereafter, a succeeding lamination can be punched after the rotation has occurred. As the punch engages the strip on top of the die ring, the rotatable chamber is pushed downwardly so that the gap at the bottom of the rotatable chamber disappears.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2000Date of Patent: March 25, 2003Assignee: Tempel Steel CompanyInventor: Mark Bender

At least two plates can be joined together to form a wall of a trailer. Each composite plate is formed from top and bottom skins having a resilient core sandwiched therebetween. The bottom skin of one plate and the top skin of the adjacent plate each include an integrally formed skin extension which extends past the end of the respective cores and overlaps the respective top or bottom skin on the adjacent plate. To perform the method, the following steps are taken: The composite plates are placed adjacent to each other and the punching apparatus is engaged with the plate to be punched to compress the plate core material. The punching apparatus punches through the plate and skin to form a hole therethrough. The apparatus is then withdrawn from its engagement and the core is allowed to expand into the hole.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Wabash National CorporationInventor: Rodney P. Patent number: 5768963Abstract: In the punching of a stack (7) of sheet-like articles, especially labels made from paper or paperboard, with a punching knife (4), a punching ram (3) which can be moved to the punching knife (4) and a counter-pressure plunger (5) which is guided through the punching knife (4), the punching knife (4) and the counter-pressure plunger (5) are arranged on the carriage (10) which can be moved towards and away from the punching ram (3). As a result, a receiving apparatus (26) which can be moved laterally towards and away from the punching area can remove the ready-punched stack (21) and at the same time a new stack (7) of precut sheets can be presented to the punching ram (3).Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 1996Date of Patent: June 23, 1998Assignee: Blumer Maschinenbau AGInventor: Michel G. Patent number: 5753158Abstract: Method for manufacturing aspirator tubes (10) for medical and dental use which are provided with two opposite air apertures (13) adjacent at least one end thereof. The air apertures are made in a tube length which is moving axially and is cut to individual aspirators tubes. The apertures are made and the tube length is cut by means of continuously rotating cutters (17, 18, 22, 23) which are cuttingly engaged with the tube length at predetermined revolutions only while said cutters are brought to idle therebetween, withdrawn from the tube length.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1997Date of Patent: May 19, 1998Inventor: Ernst Orsing

Patent number: 5699946Abstract: A vulcanized sheet S1 having formed therein annular articles P1 is prepared at first, which sheet comprises thick external bridges (16) in a thin annular zone (14) and at regular angular intervals so that the bridges connect an external flash (13) to a body (15) of the sheet. A recess (22) is formed centrally of an inner waste (20) surrounded by each article. Then, a guide lug (34) is inserted in the recess to correctly position the article, before tearing by of a first punch (35) an inner breakable boundary (26) intervening between the article and the inner waste so as to remove the inner waste from the article. Next, a further guide lug (44) is inserted in a space from which the inner waste has been removed, a die having a bore (31a) of a diameter larger than the article supports the sheet, and finally a second punch (45) tears an outer breakable boundary (12) to separate the article from the sheet.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1996Date of Patent: December 23, 1997Assignee: Nakanishi Metal Works Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koichi Hashimoto, Michiyuki Kamiji

Patent number: 5640752Abstract: A controlled adjustable method for forming and stacking laminations that are used in an electro-magnetic device such as a motor or transformer is disclosed. The method steps provide the incremental forming of a predetermined number of laminations from magnetically conductive material with each lamination having at least one coil winding segment of predetermined incrementally varying width. Each coil winding segment is formed by the movement of variable electrically adjustable mechanical forming elements such as punching or stamping dies or laser devices relative to magnetically conductive material.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1995Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Inventor: Robert E. Patent number: 5474636Abstract: In a method for the plastification of documents punched out of a sheet, with a plastic cover being fixed to a document, at least two first reference markers are made on the cover, the positions of the first reference markers being defined beforehand with respect to the punch-out line of the document. The position of the punch-out line of the unit constituted by the document and the cover being defined beforehand with respect to at least two reference markers, the unit is punched out when the first and second reference markers coincide. Application to the plastification of all printed documents.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1993Date of Patent: December 12, 1995Assignee: Thomson-CSFInventors: Georges Tisserand, Jacques Tisserand

Patent number: 5467632Abstract: The capability of heat dissipation from the contact surface of a magnetic switch for a starter motor is improved without increasing the fabrication cost. A punch 28 having a plurality of square projections arranged in two mutually perpendicular directions at the pitch of P is applied to the surface of a plate member 27 to form a first group of punched recesses 29a. The pitch P is twice the length of a side of each punched recess 29a. Then, the punch 28 is shifted with respect to the first group of punched recesses 29 by P/2 in both the vertical and horizontal directions before forming a second group of punched recesses 29b. The punched recesses 29a and 29b define projections 26 in the parts which are not occupied by these recesses generally in the pattern of a checker board.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1993Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Assignee: Mitsuba Electric Mfg.
