  • Patent number: 11203130
Abstract: A safety device for a bandsaw includes a frame and a pair of jaws rotatably mounted thereon. The frame is mounted on the framework of the saw with the jaws on either side of the blade. An actuating rod is slidably mounted on the frame. A resilient return member constrains the sliding and a two-way transmission transforms it into a rotation of the pair of jaws. An electromagnetic actuator is rigidly connected to the frame and a retaining member is rigidly connected to the actuator. The rod has a receiving portion which engages with the retaining member when the rod is in a first position relative to the frame. The transmission is arranged so that the jaws are separated from one another when the rod is in the first position.

An operator wears a safety device on his wrist and/or ankle and a sensor array mounts on opposing sides of the cutting machine's infeed chute. The sensor array elements are wound in opposite directions and connect in series opposing. The magnetic field of the safety device induces a current in the sensor array as it moves in the proximity of the sensor array. The safety system generates a signal which is proportional to the sum of the induced currents. • Patent number: 8186253
Abstract: Power tool includes a movable blade and a detection system for detecting contact between the blade and an object. Detection system includes an excitation plate capacitively coupling the drive signal to the movable blade. A circuit generates an in-phase component signal and a quadrature component signal from a blade current signal indicative of the instantaneous current drawn by the movable blade and calculates an energy of the blade current signal considering the in-phase and the quadrature components. The circuit compares the energy of the blade current signal to an adaptive trigger threshold to detect contact between the blade and the object based on whether the energy of the blade current signal is greater than the adaptive trigger threshold.

Abstract: A control method for a cutting blade, particularly for cutting-off machines for logs of web material, interrupts operation of the cutting blade when deformation of the blade reaches a preset deformation value and resumes operation of the cutting blade when the deformation of the blade is less than another preset deformation value. The control method measures deformation values of at least a portion of the cutting blade, compares the measured deformation values with at least one preset deformation value set by an operator, and sends, according to signals coming from the result of the comparison, control signals to a motor of the machine to control the start up and/or the stop of the motor.
