With Tool Contour Adjusting Means Patents (Class 83/657)
  • Patent number: 11849779
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a flexible, impact-resistant pad (1), primarily for use in an item of protective wear, comprises the following steps. First, a sheet (16) of impact-absorbing material (3, 4, 4), for example a closed-cell foam is provided. The sheet (16) is cut to provide a piece (16) with a profile required for the pad (1) and this piece (16) is then cut into a plurality of spaced, separate elements (2), which are retained within the required profile of the pad (1). A first, flexible layer (17, 4) of material (3) is provided and one side of same is bonded to the spaced, separate elements (2). The edge (5) of the pad (1) is streamlined by the following additional steps which may be carried out either before cutting of the sheet (16) into the plurality of spaced, separate elements (2) or after bonding of the first, flexible layer (17, 4) of material (3) to the spaced, separate elements (2).

  • Patent number: 8418589
Abstract: A pipe cutting apparatus having a frame and first and second pipe support arms. The pipe support arms are pivotally attached to the frame. First and second pipe support members on the first and second arms together with a third pipe support member securely grip the pipe at substantially equally circumferentially spaced locations. A camming member is used to place the first and second pipe support arms in predefined locations for holding differently sized pipes. An linkage assembly causes the third pipe support member to biasingly engage the pipe. A two-part tool shield is provided together with a depth adjusting assembly for facilitating the cutting and beveling of the pipe. A power transmission assembly transfers power from a motor on the frame to a tool located on a pivoting arm. The frame may be manufactured using an adhesive filler material for enhancing the rigidity, strength and accuracy of the components.

  • Publication number: 20030226437
Abstract: A punch guide assembly is provided for removably carrying a stripper plate. The punch guide assembly comprises a punch guide and a stripper plate guide movable axially with respect to the punch guide. The stripper plate guide has a locked position wherein the stripper plate is secured to the punch guide assembly and an unlocked position wherein the stripper plate can be readily removed from the punch guide assembly. The stripper plate guide is resiliently biased axially toward its unlocked position yet is restrained against axial movement relative to the punch guide when in its locked position.

  • Patent number: 5983766
Abstract: A steel rule die for cutting cloth and synthetic materials. The cutting die includes a primary substrate and a plurality of cutting units that are removably attachable to the substrate in such a manner that they are easy to adjust, remove and replace. The cutting units include secondary substrates with lengths of steel rule attached to them to form cutting cavities. Studs mounted to the primary substrate interface with tear-drop shared holes in the secondary substrates with to restrain them against motion perpendicular to the surface of the primary substrate while permitting movement of the cutting units in a horizontal plane with respect to the primary substrate. Adjustable securing rails positioned along the peripheries of the primary substrate are moved toward the fixed securing rails to restrain the secondary substrates against lateral and longitudinal motion.
