Patent number: 8881628Abstract: A carpet recycling machine includes a carpet-pile removal machine and a carpet-thickness identification means. The carpet-thickness identification means is incorporated in a carpet handling system that includes a conveyor. In use, carpet is placed pile down on one end of the conveyor which feeds the carpet in to the carpet-pile removal machine. The carpet is urged to pass the carpet-thickness identification means, which measures the thickness of the carpet's backing substrate. This measurement is used to control an offset setting means of the carpet-pile removal machine in order to set an offset between a blade and first roller. Thus the height that the blade cuts the carpet can be set for each piece of carpet processed. As the carpet continues past the carpet-thickness identification means, towards the carpet-pile removal machine, the carpet is urged into the carpet-pile removal machine to be separated in to pile and backing substrate.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2011Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Sellers Engineers LimitedInventor: John Reginald Mosley

Two street lines with at least one street intervening therebetween are selected, and linear functions ƒ(x) and g(x) are determined on the basis of the coordinates of their alignment spots according to the least squares method. The linear functions ƒ(x) and g(x) run among the alignment spots at the closest distances thereto to represent the two selected streets. Another linear functions ƒ′(x) and g′(x) are determined by putting the linear functions f(x) and g(x) into parallelism with the X-axis.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2001Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Disco CorporationInventor: Masakado Kamigaki

Publication number: 20020124699Abstract: A punching device of the present invention is proposed which can perform positional alignment with high accuracy without generating positional deviation or vibration by shifting a workpiece, and which does not deteriorate the accuracy of determining the position of an image by shifting a photographic device. In this punching device, a CCD camera, which can photograph the position of the die hole upon the lower die and the position of the pattern upon the workpiece which shows the position thereon where punching is to be performed, is fixedly provided at a position removed from the raising and lowering track of the punch plate. Furthermore, a mirror may be provided between the CCD camera and the die hole upon the lower die.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 22, 2002Publication date: September 12, 2002Inventors: Toru Ishii, Hiromichi Matsui, Yasuaki Mizuno, Makoto Teraoka

Patent number: 6418824Abstract: A press for forming a workpiece with a tooling set includes an actuator assembly carrying a movable half or punch of the tooling set and having a two phase operation. In the first phase the actuator provides relatively low force in moving the punch to an intermediate position in close proximity to the workpiece. A sensor detects the position of the punch, and when the punch reaches the intermediate position provides a continue signal. The second phase of actuator operation is conditioned on occurrence of the continue signal, and uses normal high force to press the movable tooling half against the workpiece to complete the operation. The low force first phase allows obstructions of any kind to stop movement of the punch during the first phase before high force applied to the actuator may cause damage or injury to the obstruction. In a preferred embodiment the actuator assembly has hydraulic operation.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2000Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: PCPS Limited PartnershipInventors: Terrence P. Patent number: 6397713Abstract: An apparatus and methodology are presented for automatically infeeding workpieces to a saw. A first workpiece is selected at an input station. A servo-driven friction belt system is connected to the input station, and advances the workpiece under a laser projection system. The laser projection system projects a laser pattern onto the workpiece, the laser pattern corresponding to one of a plurality of patterns corresponding to the blade configuration of a fixed arbor gang rip saw. Finally, there is a pinch roller system for removing the workpiece from the friction belt system and moving the workpiece into the saw, while maintaining the workpiece's orientation under the laser pattern. Also provided is a sensor for measuring the board width while moving on the servo-driven friction belt system, where the width is input to a computer controlling the friction belt system and which determines the optimum laser pattern.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1998Date of Patent: June 4, 2002Assignee: James L. Publication number: 20020020266Abstract: A positioned sensing device measures and/or calculates the lateral position and movement of a saw blade. These measured and calculated values are used to automatically alter the work-feed rate and/or saw blade rim speed either up or down as sawing conditions change within the work piece or between different work pieces.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2000Publication date: February 21, 2002Inventor: H. Publication number: 20010002561Abstract: An apparatus and method for cutting a workpiece with a wire saw. A frame is provided with a pair of reel bobbins. A strand of wire unwound from one of the reel bobbins is spirally wound about a pair of cutting rollers and is simultaneously wound about the other reel bobbin while causing the cutting rollers to rotate. A workpiece contacts the wire to cut the workpiece. The pair of reel bobbins are supported in a manner that their axes are vertical. The apparatus controls the tension in the wire and the speed of the wire. Also, excessive loosening of the wire is prevented with a brake device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 1998Publication date: June 7, 2001Inventors: MITSUHIRO SHIRAGA, YASUHIRO ITO

Patent number: 6223638Abstract: A slicing method and slicing apparatus eliminate occurrence of cracking and/or chipping of a to-be-machined object without reducing the processing speed thereof. To this end, the slicing method comprising cutting the to-be-machined object W by supporting the to-be-machined object W on a table 10 and causing this table 10 to travel in an x-axis direction while allowing a slicing blade 20 to rotate at a predetermined position. A sensor 12 detects a variable load F that the to-be-machined object receives during slicing and an actuator 11 operatively responds to receipt of a detection signal of the sensor 12. The actuator 11 forces the to-be-machined object W to deform in a direction which permits reduction of the aforesaid variable load F. The actuator is provided between the sensor 12 and table 10, or alternatively between the to-be-machined object W and sensor 12.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 1999Date of Patent: May 1, 2001Assignee: Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd.Inventor: Takeshi Inao
