  • Patent number: 5699711
Abstract: A saw guide to enable a user to cut a straight line using a hand saw consists of a base having a slot formed therein which divides the base into first and second side-by-side sections. A fixed guide is mounted above the first section, with the central portion thereof being spaced apart from the base to form a cavity into which the board or other work to be cut is inserted. An adjustable guide is mounted above the second section, with the central portion thereof forming an adjustable cavity through which the board cut project. The adjustable guide includes manually operable adjustment knobs at the upper end of threaded bolts which extend through the ends of the adjustable guide and, at their lower ends, screw into threaded collars in bores within the base. As the knobs are turned, the adjustable guide descends, thereby decreasing the height of the adjustable cavity until the adjustable guide clamps against the board and holds it tightly against the base.

  • Patent number: 5241483
Abstract: During, for example, package production, printed sheets are carried by gripper bars through a cutting station of a machine. Front waste strips are removed from the printed sheets and are carried to an ejection device, but before reaching the ejection device, a camera and flash scanning unit scans the area of the front waste strip which has been marked with color registration marks and also includes at least a portion of a cut edge. An image processing unit compares this sample image to a reference image to conduct a quality check on the precision of the printing and cutting registration.

  • Patent number: 4961149
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for marking and cutting a flexible web that can be supplied from a supply roll of material onto a generally flat working surface or bed to a take-up roll. While the present invention is particularly adapted for marking and cutting fabric, such as may be used to manufacture upholstered furniture, such as couches, love seats, chairs and the like, the invention may also be used to mark and cut almost any flexible web, and particularly any web that is susceptible of experiencing dimensional distortion, such as bowing, skewing or stretching in unusual directions. The apparatus utilizes computer control and video imaging to identify design features and to locate them relative to pieces so that the item of furniture has design features at the desired locations.
