  • Patent number: 9827626
Abstract: A saw blade for use with a reciprocating saw includes a body and an attachment portion extending from the body. The attachment portion includes a tang and an aperture configured to connect to the reciprocating saw. The saw blade also includes a cutting portion formed on the body. The cutting portion includes a plurality of cutting teeth and a floor guard tooth positioned adjacent at least one of the plurality of cutting teeth. Each cutting tooth has a tip that defines a plane. The floor guard tooth extends from the body beyond the plane. The attachment portion is offset from the plane to reduce interference of the reciprocating saw with a surface while performing a footer cut with the saw blade. The floor guard tooth contacts the surface while performing the footer cut to inhibit the plurality of cutting teeth from contacting the surface.

  • Publication number: 20130032014
Abstract: A reciprocating saw blade, for use in a portable power reciprocating saw including a chuck for releasably engaging the saw blade, includes a tang having an elongated axis and being engageable with the chuck for attaching the saw blade to the reciprocating saw. The saw further includes a blade portion having a cutting edge that defines a plurality of cutting teeth. The cutting teeth define a repeating pattern of successive groups of teeth. Each group of teeth is less than about a half inch in length, and includes a plurality of laterally offset teeth, at least one relatively high first tooth and at least one relatively low second tooth. Prior to tooth set, the at least one relatively high first tooth is at least about 0.002 inch higher than the at least one relatively low second tooth.

  • Patent number: 7913601
Abstract: A saw blade, such as a bandsaw blade, has a toothform pattern that includes a raker tooth and set teeth. The bandsaw blade teeth are configured such that a distance from a tooth point of the raker tooth to a tooth point of an immediately preceding set tooth is the smallest tooth spacing in the saw blade toothform pattern. With the use of a smaller spacing, the raker tooth removes the smallest chip thickness from a work piece relative to the chip thicknesses removed by the set teeth. This reduces the amount of load imposed on the raker tooth point. In one arrangement, in order to balance the forces on either side of the blade during operation, the saw blade is configured such that an accumulated pitch of the tooth points set to a first side of the blade are substantially equal to the accumulated pitch of the tooth points set to a second opposing side of the blade.

  • Publication number: 20020184981
Abstract: A method of preventing a tooth from continuously breaking in a band saw blade, comprises the steps of: moving the band saw blade to a longitudinal direction and moving the band saw blade to a cutting direction perpendicular to the moving direction of the band saw blade so as to cut a work; bringing a projecting portion disposed at a rear position of a surface of relief at the back of a tip in a saw tooth broken into contact with a bottom portion of a cutting groove in the work when the tooth breaking is generated in the saw tooth of the band saw blade; and limiting a cutting amount of the following saw tooth, thereby preventing the following saw tooth from breaking.

  • Patent number: 5379672
Abstract: A saw blade with cutting wings on the teeth. The blade has a blade body, teeth located on an outer edge of the blade body, and cutting wings extending from either side of each tooth on the blade body. Each tooth is angled in a direction opposite that of the adjacent teeth to eliminate block cutting characteristics and to enhance the serrating effect of the teeth. A first wing is longer than a second wing and contains a barb that enhances the serrating effect of the wing. Both wings are beveled so that the sharpest edge of the wings is located on the outer edge of the wings. The cutting wings pre-cut a width of the material and reduce the splintering and shredding effects of the blade on the material.
