  • Patent number: 8739670
Abstract: Unattached elastic portions of an elasticised web are grasped and raised above a support surface for feeding the elasticised web. The raised portions are brought into contact with a knife blade that is positioned to protrude through the thickness of the raised elastic layer into free space so as to remain spaced from the support surface that is moving beneath the blade in a direction normal to the support surface. The raised elastic layer is held raised during trimming with the knife blade by an elevation element over which the elastic layer runs. A grasping device holds the unattached portion being cut in a taut state in the cross machine direction. The elastic layer thus spans across the elevation element and the grasping device. The knife blade extends through the thickness of the elastic layer along the spanned part of the elastic layer into free space.

  • Publication number: 20110010945
Abstract: A cable slitter comprises a support frame and slitting wheel operatively mounted on support frame in position to slit a cable driven longitudinally along the slitting wheel. A rotatable drive wheel is operatively mounted on the support frame for rotation about a substantially horizontal drive axis, in spaced relation from the slitting wheel to together define a substantially longitudinal cable slitting path there between. A slit-adjustment means moves one of the slitting means and the rotatable drive wheel means transversely with respect to the other between a plurality of slitting positions. A drive motor selectively rotates the rotatable drive wheel, to thereby cause a cable in the substantially longitudinal cable slitting path to move forwardly along the substantially longitudinal cable slitting path and engage the slitting wheel, thus causing the cable to be slit.

  • Patent number: 4602854
Abstract: A polyhedral ring mirror is manufactured by molding a synthetic resinous blank having in it a cavity in the form of a four-sided pyramid. The wall surfaces of the cavity are metallized to make them light reflective. The blank is then sliced through in a plane normal to the cavity axis to sever from the blank a minor portion, and to leave behind a major portion in which the form of the cavity has been converted into a truncated pyramid having opposite its original opening a smaller opening. The modified blank with the doubly open cavity is placed, smaller opening down, on a printed wire wiring board around a rectangular electrical component on the board to permit visual inspection from a single viewing point above the component, of all of its sides. The size of the large opening of the cavity can be adjusted by slicing away another portion of the blank.

  • Patent number: 4332180
Abstract: A board or workpiece is received broad side down on an endless belt which feeds the board into a circular saw blade extending transversely above and across the endless belt. The belt is horizontal and the circular saw blade is generally horizontal for cutting the board dimensionally with respect to the surface of the conveyor belt as a "fence" or reference level. Although the board is positioned with respect to the reference level of the conveyor primarily by gravity, a hold-down wheel may be utilized for insuring the forward feed of the board toward the saw by the conveyor. The saw mount is tiltable with respect to the conveyor whereby angular sawing may also be accomplished, and the saw is also slidably adjustable with respect to its mount for setting the depth of cut. A plurality of downwardly extending dogs engage the board on the conveyor and prevent kickback by the saw.

  • Patent number: 4237763
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for slicing or scoring bakery products which comprises a stationary horizontal bed over which muffins or other bakery products are sequentially moved at high speed. Movement of the muffins is effected by first and second endless conveyor belts, each having a flight disposed adjacent the stationary bed and in opposition to the other. A hold down plate is suspended in overlying relation to the stationary bed, so that travel of the bakery products is bounded on the top and bottom by stationary surfaces, and on the sides by the conveyor belts. A disc cutting blade rotating at high speed projects into this travel space (in the preferred embodiment, one of the conveyor belts comprises dual belts which are spaced apart to permit projection of the blade therebetween), and the scoring or slicing function occurs as the bakery products move sequentially in slicing engagement with the rotating blade.
