  • Patent number: 8291798
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for producing small, thin sheets from an active-ingredient film (2), in which the latter is produced by casting the film material onto a substrate material or by coating a substrate material, storing it with or without substrate material on a reel, pulling it off the reel and cutting it. It achieves the object of designing a method of this type in such a way that with this method small sheets can be produced as exactly as possible in predetermined sizes. To do this, the active-ingredient film (2) is pulled off automatically, is separated from a substrate material which, if present, and in tensioned form, is fed to a cutting station and is cut, in the feed direction, into long, narrow strips (7) of predeterminable width, and the long strips (7) are brought together in the feed direction and together are fed by a further feed device (10) to a transverse cutter (11), which cuts through the combined long strips (7) at predetermined intervals.

Abstract: In a method and apparatus for rotating loose laminations in a loose lamination die, a strip is fed through the die to a rotatable blanking chamber of a blanking station. There, a punch engages with a die ring to punch a lamination free from the strip. The rotatable blanking chamber is biased in an upwardly direction. When the punch is not engaging with the die ring, the rotatable chamber is in an upward position wherein a gap develops between laminations retained at a bottom of the rotatable chamber, and those laminations lying directly below the rotatable chamber. The rotatable chamber can then be rotated without damage to the laminations at the gap because of the presence of the gap. Thereafter, a succeeding lamination can be punched after the rotation has occurred. As the punch engages the strip on top of the die ring, the rotatable chamber is pushed downwardly so that the gap at the bottom of the rotatable chamber disappears.

  • Patent number: 4955854
Abstract: Apparatus for subdividing a stack into a number of piles of overlapping sheets has an elevator which can move a stack upwardly in stepwise fashion between a belt conveyor and a horizontally reciprocable carriage for a pusher and a blade-like horizontal separating element which extends beyond the pusher in a direction toward the conveyor. When a selected part of the stack extends above the level of the upper reach of the conveyor, the carriage is moved toward the conveyor so that the separating element penetrates between two sheets of the stack and the pusher thereupon transfers the pile above the separating element onto the conveyor. Two hold-down devices enter the gap which is formed in the stack as a result of penetration of the separating element to prevent the topmost sheet of the remaining portion of the stack from participating in the movement of the separating element toward the conveyor. The thickness of the rounded tip of the separating element is less than 0.9 millimeter.

  • Patent number: 4765214
Abstract: Veneer handling apparatus having a veneer clipper at one end thereof and a veneer sheet stacker at the other end is disclosed. Veneer sheets cut into a format size by the clipper are sorted so as to allow defective sheets to be discharged from the apparatus. Sound veneer sheets sorted from the defective sheets are distributed selectively into two ways alternately. Two conveyors arranged one above the other and converging at a position adjacent their downstream ends are provided in the apparatus, and one sheet is distributed to the upper conveyor and stopped at a predetermined position thereon until its succeeding sheet distributed to the lower conveyor is moved to another predetermined position. The sheet on the upper conveyor is allowed to move again at such controlled time that it is combined at the converging position with the succeeding sheet moving on the lower conveyor into a pair with one sheet placed over the other.

  • Patent number: 4758214
Abstract: This application discloses a method and apparatus for converting thermoplastic web material, flat or tubular, to produce bags. A conventional bag machine produces web segments provided with a group of centrally located holes and each segment is transferred by a conventional rotary transfer device to one of a plurality of platforms which are sequentially located at a stacking station. The platforms are provided with upwardly projecting pins on which the web sections are stacked. After the accumulation of a desired number of web segments on the platform located at the stacking station, the loaded platform is indexed away from the stacking station to a perforating station and then to a cutting or cutting and blocking station to thereby produce two bag stacks, each of which are retained on the associated platform by the pins.

  • Patent number: 4741233
Abstract: A system for spreading and severing material utilizing a roller movable over a lower substrate and carrying with it a loop of material for spreading without tension. One or two plies are spread as a function of roller travel prior to severing from a source. If two plies are spread, severing of the loop occurs at the roller by an element movable with the roller. A second severing element is located at one end of the substrate to separate material from the source. A top platen carries a removable substrate having thereon multiple patterns. The patterns are defined by a resistance wire having thermal expansion joints and carried by stand-off insulators mounted on the removable substrate. When the wires are brought into contact with the material on the lower substrate, severing occurs. Multiple cycles of spreading and severing may occur prior to removal of the lower substrate.

Upon reaching the required height of the stack, the spindle tip adapted to be separated from the stacking spindle is held by a retaining device consisting of adjusting means and slide member so that the stack can be lowered to the discharge conveyor plane.

  • Patent number: 4656817
Abstract: A rotating, indexable carousel-like apparatus for retaining lead frame containers for use in combination with a singulation press which severs a reel of lead frames and progressively loads the lead frames into the containers. The carousel-like apparatus can accommodate multiple lead frame containers and comprises a baseplate, circular container holder, lead frame guide means and indexing means. Also, there are means to ensure container retention within the apparatus. The apparatus includes means which raise the baseplate and container holder to a loading position and lower them to an indexing position. The apparatus will automatically index to the next loading position when a container is fully loaded. The apparatus includes means which monitor both carousel position and lead frame position and will inhibit press operation if either the apparatus, lead frames or containers within the apparatus are misaligned.

Abstract: A stacking conveyor is provided for receiving thin product slices moving along a horizontal path and placing a plurality of slices in stacks of predetermined configuration. One embodiment of the stacking conveyor includes a conveyor belt carried on a fixed position frame and is oscillated to receive a predetermined number of slices forming a stack and then revolved to discharge the formed stack. A second embodiment of the stacking conveyor includes a conveyor belt carried on a movable frame that is reciprocated to receive a slice while moving in one direction and then discharging the slice while moving in the opposite direction. Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for receiving products, such as stacks of sliced luncheon meat, in an intermittent flow pattern, for conveying the products in two generally parallel paths at two different flow rates, and for merging the two generally parallel paths into a single path through which the products flow on a non-intermittent basis. The two generally parallel paths have a fill mode during which an intermittent grouping of products are received onto the conveyor path, as well as a feed mode during which the intermittent grouping of products are fed in a continuous flow to a merging device. When one of the conveyor paths is in its fill mode, the other conveyor path is in its feed mode, and vice versa. The speed of each conveyor path during its fill mode is greater than that during its feed mode.

  • Patent number: 4474093
Abstract: Stacks of superimposed paper sheets are formed from a succession of layers each of which contains a given number of groups of sheets. One or more layers which contain a first number of groups can be followed by one or more layers containing a different second number of groups so that a stack can contain layers which, in turn, contain different numbers of groups and hence different numbers of sheets. The number of sheets in each stack and in each layer is a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group. If the average number of sheets in a series of successive stacks is to deviate from a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group, successive stacks contain different numbers of sheets; each such number is a whole multiple of the number of sheets in a group but the total number of sheets in the series of stacks divided by the number of stacks which form the series can deviate from such whole multiple.
