  • Patent number: 11972693
Abstract: Embodiments pertain to a system configured to provide a music learning session to a user. The system comprises a memory for storing data and executable instructions; and a processor that is configured to execute the executable instructions to result in performing the following steps: presenting the user with a representation of a musical piece to be played by the user with a music instrument; receiving an audio signal relating to an instrument output provided by the music instrument played by the user; and determining a level of correspondence between the received audio signal and the representation of the musical piece presented to the user. The steps may further comprises identifying an audio signal portion for which a determined level of correspondence does not meet a correspondence criterion; and determining an error characteristic for the identified audio signal portion.

  • Patent number: 11972748
Abstract: User interface techniques provide user vocalists with mechanisms for seeding subsequent performances by other users (e.g., joiners). A seed may be a full-length seed spanning much or all of a pre-existing audio (or audiovisual) work and mixing, to seed further contributions of one or more joiners, a user's captured media content for at least some portions of the audio (or audiovisual) work. A short seed may span less than all (and in some cases, much less than all) of the audio (or audiovisual) work. For example, a verse, chorus, refrain, hook or other limited “chunk” of an audio (or audiovisual) work may constitute a seed. A seeding user's call invites other users to join the full-length or short-form seed by singing along, singing a particular vocal part or musical section, singing harmony or other duet part, rapping, talking, clapping, recording video, adding a video clip from camera roll, etc.

  • Patent number: 11763787
Abstract: An operator of a digital audio workstation (DAW) application is able to assign individual tracks of a DAW session for export to specific players within a musical score of a scorewriter application. The DAW operator associates each track with a player identifier, which is retained in association with an interoperable format file generated by the export process. When the scorewriter imports such a file, it extracts the player identifier and uses it to map the track to a scored instrument. The mapping may also depend on a scorewriter arrangement of players for the instruments. The DAW operator may assign multiple tracks representing a given instrument played with different techniques to a single instrument part in a score. The playing techniques for the instruments are also associated with the tracks and may be parsed by the scorewriter to annotate the score with the corresponding notations.

The system can be used with next generation digital audio workstations (DAWs), virtual studio technology (VST) plugins, virtual music instrument libraries, and automated music composition and generation engines, systems and platforms. The automated music performance system generates unique digital performances of pieces of music, using virtual musical instruments created from sampled notes or sounds and/or synthesized notes or sounds. Each virtual music instrument has its own set of music-theoretic state responsive performance rules that are automatically triggered by the music theoretic state descriptors of the music composition or performance to be digitally performed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for generating a visual color display of audio-file data are provided. The system includes a processor that performs a method including receiving audio-file data; generating filtered-audio data by processing the audio-file data by frequency-band filters. The frequency band filters have different frequency bands. The method includes generating one or more waveforms corresponding to the filtered-audio data and displaying the waveforms superimposed in unique color relative to one another. The method includes downsampling the waveforms. The method includes processing the waveforms through an envelope detector. The method includes processing the waveforms through an expander and applying a gain factor. The waveforms have transparency levels at sections that are proportional or inversely proportional to amplitudes at the sections.

  • Patent number: 10904662
Abstract: A speaker's output volume is increased by obtaining, from a memory, a frequency response curve associated with a speaker. A digital signal processor determines, according to the frequency response curve, a frequency range associated with the speaker's max output volume and designates the frequency range associated with the speaker's max output volume as the target frequency. The digital signal processor remaps in real-time an audio input signal to produce an audio output, from the speaker, in the target frequency.

  • Patent number: 10902832
Abstract: The disclosure discloses a timbre fitting method and system based on time-varying multi-segment spectrum, the system includes an input device for obtaining audio signals of musical instruments and a segmented multi-model compensation module. The segmented multi-model compensation module learns a timbre of a source musical instrument and a target musical instrument, and establishes a multi-segment model of the sound feature of the source musical instrument and a multi-segment model of the sound feature of the target musical instrument. The sound feature is set to be based on maximum amplitude of the audio signal played the same sequence on the target musical instrument and the source musical instrument, and the audio signal of the sequence is divided into multiple segments according to the amplitude. The sound feature includes frequency spectrums of notes respectively within each amplitude range. The segmented multi-model compensation module establishes a multi-model structure with time-varying gain.

  • Patent number: 10387107
Abstract: Example embodiments relate to methods and systems for playback of adaptive music corresponding to an athletic activity. A user input is received from a user selecting an existing song for audible playback to the user, the song comprising a plurality of audio layers including at least a first layer, a second layer, and a third layer. Augmented playback of the existing song to the user is initiated by audibly providing the first layer but not the second layer. Physical activity information derived from a sensor corresponding to a real-time physical activity level of a user is received. If the physical activity level of the user is above a first activity level threshold, the augmented playback of the existing song is continued by audibly providing the first layer and the second layer to the user.
