Abstract: A blast and impact resistant double glazing window system comprising a front laminated window facing the direction of impact and a rear laminated window opposite the direction of impact. The front and rear laminated windows are spaced apart from one another by a hermetically sealed space and each of the front laminated window and the rear laminated window is one of an impact resistant window and a blast resistant window. The front laminated window is fixed to a first frame fixable within an opening of a wall, and the rear laminated window is fixed to a second frame fixable within the wall's opening.
Abstract: Protective apparatus including a plurality of spaced, slender tensile elements installed in a room inwards of a glass panel of a curtain wall of the room, wherein when the glass panel is destroyed by an explosive blast, the tensile elements generally prevent fragments from the glass panel from flying inwards past the tensile elements.
Abstract: The invention provides a composite armor for absorbing and dissipating kinetic energy from high velocity projectiles, comprising a panel provided with a layer of a plurality of high density ceramic bodies, the bodies having a specific gravity of at least 2 and being made of a material selected from the group consisting of ceramic material which does not contain aluminium oxide and ceramic material having an aluminium oxide content of not more than 80%, each of the bodies being substantially cylindrical in shape, with at least one convexly curved end face, and each of the bodies having a major axis substantially perpendicular to the axis of its respective curved end face, wherein the ratio D/R between the diameter D of each of the cylindrical bodies and the radius R of curvature of the respectively convexly curved end face of each of the bodies is at least 0.
Abstract: A removable bullet resistant desk top is described for releasable attachment to a desk frame. The desk top includes a sheet of bullet resistant material having a top writing surface and a bottom surface. At least one clip is provided, configured to releasably secure the sheet to a desk with the top writing surface facing upwardly.
