Distributor Moves Laterally Relative To Working Member Reciprocatory Path Patents (Class 91/353)
  • Patent number: 5024142
Abstract: Presented is a fluid drive motor that may be attached to a conventional garden hose, for instance, to effect reciprocating motion of a drive shaft that may be connected to a utilitarian device, such as a scrub brush. The fluid drive motor is provided with a piston assembly that responds to the pressure of the fluid to translate the piston assembly from one position to another and in so doing imposes rotational reciprocation on a drive shaft that extends out of the motor block of the fluid drive motor. The reciprocating characteristics of the piston assembly are controlled by the imposition of fluid pressure, and the imposition of fluid pressure is controlled by a valve assembly cooperating with a reciprocable magnetic bar to channel fluid under pressure alternately to opposite ends of the piston assembly.

  • Patent number: 4947731
Abstract: A uniflow engine has a plurality of cylinders disposed symmetrically around a common crankshaft connected to pistons reciprocating in the cylinders. In response to the availability of a working fluid vapor at a predetermined condition, such as a high pressure or temperature, incoming vapor is supplied to those cylinders in which the respective pistons are in their working strokes to thereby initiate rotation of the crankshaft in a predetermined direction regardless of the position in which the crankshaft has stopped last. Once rotation is initiated and a predetermined mode change speed attained in a "start-up mode" by engine operation from start, vapor inlet valves are controlled to change engine operation over to a "running mode". In the "start-up mode" incoming vapor is admitted over a substantial portion of the piston working stroke, whereas in the "running mode" vapor inflow is terminated relatively early in the working stroke so that a vapor change does work in expanding against the piston.

  • Patent number: 3990349
Abstract: A hauling device, for example for a mining machine, has two clamping elements which grip on ramps each of which elements is attached to an operating rod of a hauling jack. The jacks are operated alternately, in conjunction with the clamping elements to advance or retract the machine, and the hauling jacks are hydraulically interconnected in a manner to avoid hunting.
