Lubricant Entrained By Working Fluid Patents (Class 92/154)
  • Patent number: 4815718
Abstract: A self-lubricating die cylinder assembly is provided containing a cylinder, piston, expansion reservoir and working chamber. A lubricating oil recirculation means is provided to transport oil between the working chamber and the expansion reservoir during each of the piston strokes. A flow restrictor is provided to create a pressure differential between the two chambers during movement of the piston thus creating a jet mixture of compressible working fluid and lubricating oil spraying onto the walls of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4738187
Abstract: A chuck actuator has a cylinder extending along an axis and having an axially extending stem whose outer surface is formed with a pair of central radially outwardly open and axially spaced intake ports, a piston axially displaceable in the cylinder and forming therein two compartments connected via respective passages connected to the intake ports, two axially spaced bearings on the stem, and a connector supported by the bearings on the stem. This connector normally is restrained against rotation relative to the axis and has an inner surface closely juxtaposed with and forming with the stem surface an interface. Respective radially inwardly open and axially spaced inner feed grooves open at the interface level with the respective intake ports. Two independent hydraulic fittings communicating with the inner feed grooves can pass pressurized liquid to the respective compartments.

  • Patent number: 4546692
Abstract: An axial piston machine of the inclined axis type is operable as a pump or motor has a drive shaft, a drive plate rotatable with the drive shaft, a machine housing, a drum having cylindrical bores inclined to the axis of rotation of the drive plate, pistons reciprocally mounted in the bores and connected to the drive plate, and an axial slide bearing and a radial slide bearing arranged in the housing to provide axial and radial support for the drive plate, in which an improved radial slide bearing comprises a circumferentially spaced arrangement of pressure chambers formed in the outer periphery of the drive plate each corresponding to a respective one of the cylindrical bores, the pressure chamber opening outwardly of the drive plate to form a hydrostatic and a hydrodynamic radial slide bearing with an adjacent internal bearing surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4333538
Abstract: Oil is supplied to the compressed air supply hose for a jack leg drill by means of a conventional in-line oiler. A substantial part of the oil is separated from the drive air by means of a wall flow separator at the drill and conveyed through internal passages in the drill to various parts to be lubricated such as a chuck and a ratchet mechanism for rotating the chuck.

  • Patent number: 4044859
Abstract: In a fluid spring arrangement for a metal forming die assembly of the gas-operated, piston-cylinder type, the surfaces of the piston and cylinder which are in sliding contact are lubricated by lubricant entrained in the pressurized gas directed into the working chamber of the cylinder. The lubricant is contained in an apertured cartridge within the cylinder through which the gas is constrained to flow. A valve plate cooperates with an apertured wall of the cartridge to entrain lubricant in the gas when the flow of gas is into the cylinder and prevent the entrainment of lubricant when the flow of gas is out of the working chamber of the cylinder.
