A tipping point is disclosed as a point when a fluid pressure condition alone causes the seal member (39) to fully engage the portion of the element and fully seal the fluid passage.

When the pharmaceutical is expelled from the container, a plunger pushes on the accessible end of the seal member to compress the seal member axially and force the lubricant out of the grooves or channels and into contact with the inner wall surfaces of the container.

    Abstract: My invention is a down hole pump that operates on hydrostatic pressure. The mandrel is a tubular member having perforations therein. The expandable tube made of high quality plastic surrounds the hollow mandrel covering the perforations, thereby forming a means for communicating hydrostatic pressure existing within said hollow mandrel on an upstroke of said pump to expand the expandable tube. There is a plurality of special expandable rings which surround the expandable tube. The expandable tube causes the rings to expand radially with the expandable tube so as to maintain constant contact with the barrel. There is also a plurality of expandable spacers surrounding the expandable tube between each of the expandable rings which have a significantly smaller outside diameter than the expandable rings. There are also means provided to secure the expandable tube, rings and spacers to the mandrel.

    Abstract: A valve plug assembly for use in a steam throttle valve includes a valve body and a removable guide ring attached to one end of the valve body. An outer edge portion is removed from the guide ring at the interface with the valve body so that a circumferential groove is defined about the valve plug when the guide ring is assembled to the valve body. A slot is formed in one wall of the groove, preferably in the guide ring, and a wear ring inserted in the slot. The wear ring extends above the wall surface and terminates in an angled bearing surface. A pressure seal ring is formed with a mating bearing surface and is placed in the groove prior to assembly of the valve plug. The angular taper on the mating bearing surfaces causes some retraction of the pressure seal ring in response to sudden valve plug movement in the closed direction.

The engaging surface between the end of the piston and its head comprises a slidable concave-convex surface engagement to allow relative movement of the head on the piston as the tree falls. The head is held on the piston but capable of its relative sliding movement by a resilient cord connected between it and the base of the cylinder. The piston is hollow to reduce the weight of the unit and employs a novel seal between it and the cylinder.

    Abstract: A cartridge for containing and dispensing caulking compound comprises an elongated tubular member, generally cylindrical in configuration, one end of which has a fixed end wall including a dispensing opening therethrough and a spout attached to the end wall, while the other end of the tubular member is closed by a resilient, annular, floating member slidably mounted within the tubular member. The floating member is impervious and is made of a flexible material. When employed in conjunction with a standard caulking gun of the plunger type, the force of the plunger bears directly on the floating member which thereby expands in diameter and decreases in width and transmits pressure to the caulking for dispensing. When the plunger is suddenly withdrawn, the expansion of the floating member effectively absorbs the pressure forces within the cartridge thereby minimizing the amount of undesirable leakage of the caulking from the cartridge.
