Abstract: Particles may be used to filter oleo material such as grease from a flow of fluid such as a gas. The particles can be arranged into a bed to filter the oleo material from the fluid. The filtrate substance collect on the inorganic particles. The particles are re-usable, in that they can be subjected to filtrate-separation techniques, e.g., solvent extraction, detergent washing, and centrifugal separation, to separate the oleo material from the particles.

Abstract: Shown is an apparatus and method for cleaning filter units of an air filtering system using a reverse flow pulse of pressurized air. The filter cleaning system includes a venturi element (36) with a narrowed throat portion (56). A blowpipe (46) is substantially axially aligned with the venturi (36) and has an outlet nozzle (50) that is flared in a substantially conical shape with an included angle that (64) that exceeds an angle at (62) at which high pressure air would ordinarily diverge from an unmodified blowpipe opening. The nozzle (50) is axially spaced from the venturi at a selected distance (70) such that a high velocity pulse of air delivered by the blowpipe (46) through the nozzle (50) is delivered to the outlet portion (58) of the venturi (36) substantially between the outlet opening (62) and the throat (56).

Abstract: An exhaust system for housing-type enclosures of machine tools is provided for removing air by suction from the interior of the enclosure. The cuttings which are produced during machining of the workpieces are distributed within the working chamber and are thrown to the exhaust location and removed by suction. The cuttings collect in the exhaust area and present a safety risk. In order to prevent undesirable components in the exhaust air from reaching the exhaust system, an air-permeable catch device is provided in the exhaust area in front of the exhaust location. On the catch device, the undesirable components are caught while the exhaust action itself is not impaired. The catch device is a basket having walls made of mesh.

  • Patent number: 6814783
Abstract: Inorganic, porous particles filter a substance or substances from a flow of fluid such as a gas. The particles can be arranged into a bed to filter a substance (filtrate substance) from a fluid. The filtrate substance can collect on or within the pores of the inorganic particles. Collection of the filtrate substance within the pores of the particles rather than within the interstices of the bed enhances the filtering capacity and does not impede the flow of fluid through the bed of particles. Furthermore, the inorganic particles are re-usable, in that they can be subjected to harsh filtrate-separation techniques, e.g., heat treatment, solvent extraction, detergent washing, and centrifugal separation, yet retain their desired properties.

Abstract: A washable cloth vacuum cleaner filter bag for use on wet/dry vacuum cleaners and in central vacuum cleaner systems includes a first opening for receiving vacuumed debris, means for attaching the first opening to the inlet of the vacuum cleaner or system, and a second opening, which is reversably sealable, for removing the vacuumed debris from the bag. In combination with the bag, the vacuum cleaner or system may be successfully used to suction up fine particulate debris, including gypsum dust and MDF dust. For a preferred embodiment of the new vacuum cleaner filter bag, the bag, which is of generally rectangular shape, is fabricated from a tight weave, synthetic-fiber cloth having a warp of about 160 threads per inch and a weft of about 68 threads per inch. A variety of fastener types may be employed for the reversably sealable second opening. The second opening incorporates a cuff on one side of the opening which is turned inside out to fold over the edge of the other side of the bag.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a filter cleaning device, in particular, diesel particulate filters. In one embodiment, the device comprises a source of high pressure fluid and means to transport the fluid to a nozzle or nozzles; an actuator for moving the nozzles; a controller with logic for instructing the actuator to automatically move the nozzle or nozzles across the surface of the filter; a collection device and suction device downstream of the filter; and ducting to transport the fluid between parts of the system. In one embodiment, a second collection device is used downstream of the suction device to provide additional particulate removal. There are three methods proposed for providing high pressure cleaning fluid to the filter face: 1) rotating the filter and rotating the jet about an axis outside of the filter; 2) moving a nozzle in two perpendicular directions (i.e., x-y); and 3) rotating a rectangular nozzle about the central axis of the filter.

Abstract: An air-routing household appliance includes an improved removable and washable filter in that the filter is of a flexible fiber material and is finished such that it can bind and/or decompose odorous substances. Such a filter can be disposed, in particular, in the closed process-air circuit of a condensation laundry dryer to free laundry of unpleasant odorous substances. The odor filter is produced, in particular, from a textile material and can, therefore, advantageously be cleaned in a washing machine. For the binding of odorous substances, the fibers of the filter can be treated with particles that can bind odorous substances and from which the odorous substances can also be washed out again to regenerate the filter.
