    Abstract: A pickling process for descaling metal includes a two-stage filtering process to remove pickling liquor fog, mist, and/or vapors from a gas collected during the descaling process. The process includes a two-stage filtering arrangement that includes a first stage filter, which is arranged to remove a liquid phase of the pickling liquor from the gas, and a second stage filter, which is arranged to remove a gaseous phase of the pickling liquor the said gas. The recovered pickling liquor can advantageously be recycled for reuse because it is recovered in a relatively higher concentration that has heretofore been possible.

    Abstract: A scrubber for removal of contaminants from gas by liquid contact. The scrubber has a gas and liquid tight containment walls, to contain a gas stream through the scrubber, and to allow recirculation of scrubbing liquid, without the need for external power. A plurality of preferably annular, downwardly extending underflow weirs arc provided to define therebetween a series of gas compartments. Preferably annular, upwardly extending overflow baffles are provided between adjacent underflow weirs, and liquid compartments are defined between the inner surface of an outer wall and the first overflow baffle, and between successive overflow baffles, if present. A charge of scrubbing liquid is provided, and gas is directed into the scrubber through an inlet nozzle, under the first underflow weir, over the first overflow baffle, and thence under the next underflow weir.

The exhaust emissions filtering system comprises an ultrasonic transducer unit, an ultraviolet light unit, a magnetic particle filter unit, and an electronic control unit. The exhaust emissions filtering system removes particulates from exhaust emissions by fracturing the particles with the ultrasonic transducer unit, further breaking down the fractured particles with a high-intensity ultraviolet light, and removing the particles with an electrostatic mesh that is located in the magnetic particle filter unit.
