Parallel Plates Or Discs Patents (Class 96/392)
  • Patent number: 11420586
Abstract: An airbag assembly may include an airbag and an inflator that provides inflation gas to inflate the airbag. A filter module may be positioned such that inflation gas exiting the inflator must first pass through the filter module. The filter module may be formed of a sheet of metal that is wrapped into a generally spiraling tubular shape. The filter module may have an inner layer, an intermediate layer, and an outer layer. The intermediate layer generally encircles the inner layer, and the outer layer generally encircles the inner layer and the intermediate layer in a spiraling fashion. The inner layer, the intermediate layer, and the outer layer each may have a pattern of holes and dimples that are separate from and/or displaced from each other. The dimples may protrude toward an adjacent layer to maintain spacing to enable relatively unrestricted gas flow from the holes of the inner layer through unaligned holes of the intermediate layer and the outer layer.

  • Patent number: 10717032
Abstract: Expanded metal sheets are used to produce tubular filters. The expanded metal sheet has a multiplicity of rows of openings arranged to reduce nesting when the sheet is rolled on itself. In particular, the pitch between the rows of openings, the sizes of the openings, or both the pitch between the rows of openings and the sizes of the openings are varied to reduce nesting when the expanded metal sheet is rolled on itself. The filters can include external circumferential grooves, rounded corners produced by a point loading process, textured surfaces between openings, and/or torturous internal paths produced by non-perforated areas of an expanded metal sheet. The expanded metal sheet can be composed of carbon steel coated with a material having a higher heat conductivity, e.g., tin. Among other things, the filters can be used in automobile airbag inflators to capture slag and absorb heat produced by the inflator's explosive charge.

  • Patent number: 8721778
Abstract: The present invention relates to a foil trap device for debris mitigation, in particular in an EUV system. The foil trap comprises a plurality of spaced apart foils (4) extending from an entrance side towards an exit side of the foil trap, said foils (4) being arranged to allow a straight pass of radiation between the entrance side and the exit side. The foils (4) are coated at least at entrance side edges with a layer (8, 11) of a carbon material containing a fraction of at least 60% of sp3-hybridized carbon atoms, or with a layer (8, 11) of carbon nanotubes. As an alternative, the foils (4) are made of a bulk carbon material of the above composition. The proposed foil trap offers the combination of a high thermal conductivity, a high thermo-chemical resistance against Sn and other liquid metals and a high mechanical stiffness.

  • Publication number: 20140007774
Abstract: The invention relates to a lamellar separator for separating liquid droplets from a liquid-charged fluid, having at least two essentially vertically oriented lamellar profiles, which are spaced apart from one another, and which form a flow channel between them for conducting through the liquid-charged fluid and on the wall surfaces of which the liquid droplets are separated, and having a catch basin situated below the lamellar profiles for receiving the liquid separated from the liquid-charged fluid, the catch basin having at least one partition wall, which divides the catch basin into multiple areas.

  • Patent number: 7896937
Abstract: A low-profile vapor-liquid separator, such as a steam-water separator is described having an inlet opening for receiving a flow of a vapor-liquid mixture and an outlet opening for exhausting the flow of a vapor-liquid mixture after removal of the liquid. A passageway that extending longitudinally between the inlet opening and the outlet opening has a plurality of spinner blades that rotate the liquid to a slot in the wall for removal. The separator has an unobstructed passageway with few slots that increases rotation and centrifugal separation. Due to its efficiency it may be made much smaller than predecessor separators.

  • Publication number: 20090205489
Abstract: A vapor-liquid separator, such as a steam-water separator that is suitable for use in the drum of a steam boiler, including a chamber having an inlet opening for receiving a flow of a vapor-liquid mixture and an outlet opening for exhausting the flow of a vapor-liquid mixture after the vapor-liquid mixture has been subjected to the removal of droplets of liquid therefrom. A chamber is provided with a wall having an inner surface that is operative to define a passageway that extends longitudinally between the inlet opening and the outlet opening. A slot is suitably formed so as to pass through the inner surface and the outer surface of the wall of the chamber. A plurality of spinner blades is suitably disposed within the passageway so as to be positioned below the slot.

  • Patent number: 6059861
Abstract: The present invention relates to an enhanced exclusion filter having a cylindrical stack of substantially identical annular disks and a central rotating element. Each annular disk engages the rotating element by at least one strut which extends inward from the inner perimeter of the annular disk toward the central axis of the cylindrical stack. Protuberances extend from the annular disks and engage depressions in adjacent annular disks to maintain the spacing between adjacent annular disks. Dimples extending through the annular disks may be utilized to form a depression on one surface of an annular disk and a protuberance on the opposite surface of the annular disk. The annular disks are angularly offset by a fixed amount from the adjacent annular disks so that rough vane surfaces are formed by the struts of the annular disks. Preferably a pattern of substantially identical angular offsets is used.
