One of the pair of husking rolls is attached to a main shaft and the other of the pair of husking rolls is attached to an auxiliary shaft movable to be close to and away from the main shaft. The rice husker includes abnormality determination means. The abnormality determination means determines that the husking rolls fail to work normally when vibrations having a preset intensity larger than the preset intensity are successively detected by a vibration sensor until a certain time elapses. The certain time is from the start of a husking action to disappearance of distortion on a surface of the husking roll. The vibration sensor is provided on at least either of bearing units of the main shaft and the auxiliary shaft. The vibration sensor detects vibrations occurring due to the husking action by the pair of husking rolls.

  • Patent number: 10794684
Abstract: A touch probe for sensing the position of a surface, having a housing and a moving assembly supported within the housing and including a flexible reflective element, a spacer element, and a semitransparent element, wherein a reflective surface of the flexible reflective element and a surface of the semitransparent element are separated by the spacer element, and a stylus connected to the flexible reflective element. Movement of the stylus responsive to a force causes the flexible reflective element to flex and change distances between points on the reflective surface and on the surface of the semitransparent element. Coherent light incident upon the semitransparent element and directed towards the reflective surface creates interference fringes dependent upon separation distances between the reflective surface and the surface of the semitransparent element. A detector senses changes in the interference fringes patterns in response to flexing of the flexible element.

  • Patent number: 9107531
Abstract: The invention relates to citrus juicers of the kind in which a reamer is supported upright on a shaft driven by an electric motor so that half of a citrus fruit may be pressed down onto the reamer for juice extraction. Typically such juicers are fitted with an arm (20) that carries a hollow pressing member which is intended to be lowered, by pivoting the arm, so as to press a half-fruit onto the reamer, and it is usual for the arm (20) to return to its fully raised position after use. Accordingly, the arm (20) is spring-urged towards its raised position and tends to adopt the raised position during storage and transit. The invention provides a latching means (50) to latch the arm (20) in a lowered position, thus allowing the juicer to be stored and moved around with the arm latched down, thereby making the juicer more compact and easier to handle.

The controller includes a timer and a valve. The valve is operatively associated with the source of inert gas and has an open and a closed position. When in its closed position the valve restricts the flow of inert gas into the container. When in its open position the valve permits the flow of inert gas into the container such that the inert gas displaces at least a portion of the gas in the container. The timer causes the valve to cycle between its open and closed positions at predetermined time intervals. The flow of inert gas can also be controlled through the use of a gas sensor in communication with the interior of the container.

The preservation system obtains information about the nutritional substance to be preserved, senses and measures the external environment to the preservation system, senses and measures the internal environment to the preservation system, senses and measures the state of the nutritional substance, and stores such information throughout the period of preservation. Using this accumulated information, the preservation system can measure, or estimate, changes in nutritional content (usually degradation) during the period of preservation. Additionally, the preservation system can use this information to dynamically modify the preservation system to minimize detrimental changes to the nutritional content of the nutritional substance, and in some cases actually improve the nutritional substance attributes.

Abstract: An automatic home appliance that performs the preparation, mixing, and heating of infant formula bottles provides a reservoir on top that holds an amount of powdered formula. Connection to a household water supply provides a flow of water to an internal water heating reservoir. A central front opening is provided in which the infant bottle is placed. A digital display and a plurality of programming buttons are arranged upon a front panel to allow the user to select operating parameters. Once programmed, internal electronic controls perform dispensing and mixing of the necessary ingredients in the proper ratio and dispensing of mixed formula into the proper sized bottle. The mixture is also kept warm at the proper temperature by a hot plate. An indicator light then illuminates to communicate to a user that the bottle is ready to be removed and the mixture consumed.

Abstract: This invention provides processes and apparatus for enhancing the nutritional value of food products. Nutrition-enhancing agents are applied or dispensed onto or into food products during their manufacture by food-grade controlled-droplet dispensing heads (or head). In preferred embodiments, the dispensing heads are controlled by a controller, such as a programmed PC-type computer, in dependence on sensor data, such as electromechanical, optical, or image sensor data. The controller and sensors operate so that different food items can have selected nutrition-enhancing agents properly applied or dispensed without waste or overspray. The invention also provides food products which have been enhanced according to the provided processes and apparatus with nutrition-enhancing agents.

Abstract: Described is a pitting machine, system and process that singularizes or individualizes fruit pieces, such as cherries, olives, dates and plums and that attempts to remove pits and pit material from each fruit piece. A conveyor comprises wells or receptacles for accepting fruit pieces. The conveyor passes fruit pieces into a pitting area wherein the pitting machine removes pit material from the fruit pieces by a matrix of punching or pitting needles. Pitting needles include vanes or blades for reducing damage to fruit pieces and centering of pits or pit material. The matrix moves in an oscillatory fashion in synchronization with generally continuous movement of fruit pieces engaged in the conveyor. Singularization enables improved processing, sorting, and quality checking of fruit pieces. The system virtually ensures sufficient removal of pits and pit material. Fruit pieces that fail quality checking can be ejected or rejected from the conveyor.
