Abstract: A spinning reel rotor is rotatably mounted on a reel unit of a spinning reel for winding a fishing line onto a spool. The rotor includes a rotor unit, a bail arm, and an inertia-imparting ring. The rotor unit has a cylindrical portion that is rotatably mounted on the reel unit, and first and second rotor arms that extend forward from the rear edge of the cylindrical portion. The bail arm is pivotably mounted on the front tips of both arms, and guides the fishing line onto the spool. The inertia-imparting member is a member for providing inertia and is detachably mounted on the rotor unit. The rotor is designed to be lightweight, and can be utilized in both situations where the rotational feel is a priority, and where powering efficiency is a priority.
Abstract: A spinning reel spool configuration for preventing backlash as well as line-drop of fishing line off the spool flange. The flange is configured such that height of the flange rim relative to the perimeter of the bobbin trunk is at least partially not uniform. Various configurations are possible thus to define a peak bobbin-to-rim height A and a minimum bobbin-to-rim height B. The periphery of the total amount of wound-on line lies at the minimum height B. Accordingly, the portion of the flange providing the difference A-B in bobbin-to-rim height functions as barrier to backlash. Furthermore, the spool is deformed from conventional configurations, such that the shape of the spool bobbin trunk differs in different sections. The bobbin trunk in sections containing the spool axis is an isosceles trapezoid, however, in one such section, the bobbin trunk tapers forward regularly, but in another such section tapers rearward in reverse.
Abstract: A spinning-reel fishing line guiding mechanism that readily does away with fishing line entanglement. Arm section (40a) of first bail support member (40) on bail arm (34) lies within a sphere having a radius of a first distance R1 given by the maximum distance from a reference point P--which is the juncture between stationary shaft cover (46) and bail (41)--to an outer peripheral portion of the arm section 40a. The arm section (40a) is formed such that distances R1a and R1b from the reference point P to points on its outer peripheral portion become gradually shorter than, heading outward from, the first distance R1. That is, the configuration is such that distances R1b become shorter than distances R1a.
Abstract: A fly fishing reel comprises a large diameter spool having a broad width and a shallow line storage depth. The reel may have an arm-like body and a unique mounting member which, when attached to a fishing rod, positions the perimeter of the spool across a longitudinal axis of the rod. In an additional aspect, a drag mechanism is provided in a center hub of the spool. The drag mechanism is a unidirectional dual cone drag mechanism. The drag mechanism comprises a pair of opposing frictional conical race members, an inner race member inserted into an outer race member. The race members are biased into contact to create drag on the rotating spool. A roller clutch is utilized to produce a unidirectional drag mechanism. The roller clutch is configured to lock thereby causing relative rotation of the race members creating frictional drag only when the spool is rotated in the “reeling out direction.
Abstract: A spinning reel spool made lightweight while maintaining the strength of the bobbin trunk. The spinning reel spool (4) includes a spool main section (7), a front flange section (8), and a front-flange fixing member (9). The spool main section (7) has a bobbin trunk (7a), a tubular skirt portion (7b) with a larger diameter that is formed unitarily with the rear end of the bobbin trunk (7a), and an inner barrel member (7c) made of a synthetic resin polymer, which is fitted to the inner circumference of the bobbin trunk (7a). The front flange section (8) has a larger diameter and is attached to the front end of the bobbin trunk (7a). The front-flange fixing member (9) fastens the front flange section (8) to the spool main section (7). The bobbin trunk (7a) and the skirt portion (7b) constitute dual larger-smaller stage tubular element that is formed unitarily by press-working a sheet of an aluminum alloy. The inner barrel member (7c) is made of a synthetic resin polymer and is fitted into the bobbin trunk (7a).

Abstract: A spinning reel comprises a reel body, a rotor and a spool having a front flange portion. The reel body and the spool are constructed such that a ratio (A/L) of a diameter (A) of the front flange portion of the spool to an axial length (L) of part of the reel body, positioned behind a rear end portion of the rotor, is in a range of 115% to 200%.
Abstract: Disclosed is a fly fishing reel including a reel frame, a spool disposed into the reel frame, and a spool shaft supporting plate detachably mounted on one open end of the reel frame, the reel frame comprising a radial guide channel in an inner circumference of the open end, a plurality of recesses formed around the glide channel at predetermined intervals to interrupt the guide channel, and snap portions formed around the guide channel in radial and outward directions between the recesses. The spool shaft supporting plate includes a plurality of plate springs in one side contacting the open end of the reel frame, and each of the plate springs includes a circular head, a fixed portion for preventing a lateral movement of the plate spring, and a resilient neck portion connecting the head to the fixed portion, the head being moved radially and inwardly by an external force, and being returned to on original position as soon as the external force is removed.
Abstract: A fishing reel having side plates which can be attached to and detached from frames of a reel body with higher efficiency. In this fishing reel, a retaining ring is fitted into a fitting groove that is formed on a receiving portion of a left-hand side plate, whereupon the movable range of a left-hand ring member is restricted by the retaining ring that partially projects from the fitting groove. Thus, the ring member can always be supported for rotation on the receiving portion of the left-hand side plate without being disengaged from it.
Abstract: In a spinning reel for fishing, a fishline guide roller is rotatably supported on a bail support arm pivotably mounted on a rotor. The guide roller has a flattened shape such that a ratio of an axial length of the roller relative to a diameter thereof falls within 0.10-0.40. Further, the guide roller is formed with a narrow fishline guide groove so that a ratio of an axial length of the fishline guide groove relative to an axial length of the roller falls within 0.05-0.35. It is possible to make a fishline guide roller small in weight and size and to restrict axial motion of a fishline along the guide roller which, among other advantages, reduces line twist in the fishline.
Abstract: A fishing reel front section includes a support shaft extending along an axis and configured for reciprocal movement along the axis, a spool supported by the support shaft and a drum rotatably supported about the spool. The spool includes a peripheral groove configured to store fishing line, a front flange on a first side of the groove, a rear flange on a second opposite side of the groove and a rear skirt extending from the rear flange and terminating at a rear edge. The drum includes a body, first and second diametrically opposed retrieval arms extending forward from the body and a bail arm coupled to ends of the first and second retrieval arms. Each retrieval arm has a base proximate the body and an opposite end. The first and second retrieval arms define a fishing line retrieval side and a fishing line casting side on opposite sides of a plane parallel to the axis and intersecting the first and second retrieval arms.
