Abstract: An arrangement of studs are inserted into a tread portion of a tire. The arrangement includes a plurality of first studs protruding from an unworn tread portion for contacting a surface and a plurality of second studs embedded in the tread portion such that the second studs protrude from a worn tread portion as the tread portion wears against the surface.
Abstract: A tread for a pneumatic tire includes a plurality of trapezoidal channels, each trapezoidal channel extending circumferentially from a first end to a second end, the first end being wider than the second end, a sipe extending laterally adjacent the second ends of the trapezoidal channels, and a plurality of rectangular channels, each rectangular channel extending circumferentially from a first end to a second end, the first ends of the rectangular channels being adjacent the sipe.

Abstract: In a first aspect of the invention, an anti-skid tire stud is provided, the stud having a body made of polymer-based material, wherein the stud body comprises a top portion comprising polymer-based material having a first color, a bottom portion comprising polymer-based material having a second color, and wherein the stud further comprises a pin extending out of the top portion for contacting the road. In a second aspect of the invention, the invention relates to a tire comprising such anti-skid tire studs.

Abstract: This invention relates to a tire having a directional tread pattern with a first shoulder region, a central region, and a second shoulder region, the tire having a plurality of studs in the first shoulder region, the second shoulder region, and the central region; wherein at least some of the plurality of the studs in the central shoulder region extends longitudinally into the tread member in a direction inclined relative to the normal of the outer surface of the tread member by an angle in the circumferential direction of the tire, and wherein at least some of the studs in the first shoulder region and the second shoulder region extend longitudinally into the tread in a direction inclined relative to the normal of the outer surface of the tread in a direction different from the studs in the central region.
Abstract: A stud is configured to be inserted into a tread portion of a tire. The stud includes a tip end protruding from the tread portion for contacting a surface, and a base including a flanged bottom portion provided on an end opposite the tip end and extending radially outward, a stump portion provided between the bottom portion and the tip end, and a shank portion interconnecting the stump portion and the bottom portion. The base is embedded and secured in the tread portion of the tire in which the stud is installed. The bottom portion has a tear-drop shape consisting of three planar sides and one semi-cylindrical side. The stump portion has a polygonal shape consisting of three concave sides, two convex sides, and one planar side.
Abstract: The invention relates to an anti-skid stud for a tire having a supporting part (10) and an insert (20) which is secured thereto, wherein the supporting part (10) has a flange section (14) to which a securing section (15), into which a receptacle (19) is integrally formed, is connected, wherein the insert (20) is inserted into the receptacle (19) and projects with a head (22) out of the receptacle (19). In such anti-skid studs, particularly good grip is achieved which remains the same independently of the positional orientation in the tire by virtue of the fact that the head (22) of the insert (20) has a hexagonal cross section at least in certain areas.
