Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for item delivery using unmanned aerial vehicles. Example methods may include receiving, by a management component communicatively coupled to at least one processor via a transceiver, instructions for a UAV, wherein the instructions include a delivery request for one or more items; determining, via a routing component, a predetermined route based on the delivery request, wherein the predetermined route maximizing a visibility of the UAV by one or more users; and accepting, by a payment component communicatively coupled to the at least one processor and at least one memory, payment for the one or more items from one or more users.
Abstract: Techniques for funding an electronic purse (e-purse) are disclosed. According to one aspect of the invention, a mechanism is provided to enable a portable device to conduct transactions over an open network with a payment server without compromising security. In one embodiment, a device is loaded with an e-purse manager. The e-purse manager is configured to manage various transactions and functions as a mechanism to access an e-purse therein. The e-purse is funded by interactions among the e-purse manager, a payment server and a financial institution (its server) that maintains an account therefor.

Abstract: A method of operating a transportation service includes calculating a trip route for a trip request from a commuter, and transmitting a pick-up instruction to a transporting vehicle. A ride rebate option is communicated to the commuter, who may opt to execute it. The ride rebate option may include an option to purchase goods from a third-party provider, provide data to the third-party provider, complete a survey, or promote the third-party provider on social media. The third-party provider is notified when the commuter opts to execute the ride rebate option. Upon confirmation by the third-party provider that the commuter has executed the ride rebate option, a payment amount is transferred from the third-party provider to the transportation service. A fee charged to the commuter by the transportation service is reduced by the payment amount transferred to the transportation service from the third-party provider.
