Abstract: Apparatus and methods related to multi-player casino games are described. An electronic gaming device is provided that allows a live player to compete against a virtual player in a multi-player wager-based game using playing cards derived from the insertion of a physical denomination of currency. The electronic gaming device can be configured to simulate the decision making of a virtual player and associated behaviors of the virtual player during game play. In some instances, the simulated behaviors of the virtual player output at the electronic gaming device can be learned by a live player so that the live player can make better or more advantageous game play decisions. The simulated behaviors of the virtual player can be conveyed to the live player via visual images, such as simulated facial expressions of the virtual player.

Abstract: Latency compensation is performed during play of a multiplayer video game over a network. A first system includes a first estimator, a first player, and a first game object controlled by movement of the first player, and a second system includes at least a second player and a second game object controlled by movement of the second player. The first estimator receives data values characterizing delayed states of the second system via the network. Based on the received data values, the first estimator estimates a latency-compensated state of the second game object using a physics model of the second game object and a behavior model of the second player. The behavior model provides a representation of how the second player interacts with the video game relative to the first player. The first player is enabled to interact with the video game with compensated latency.

  • Patent number: 10940393
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for training a machine learning model to control an in-game character or other entity in a video game in a manner that aims to imitate how a particular player would control the character or entity. A generic behavior model that is trained without respect to the particular player may be obtained and then customized based on observed gameplay of the particular player. The customization training process may include freezing at least a subset of layers or levels in the generic model, then generating one or more additional layers or levels that are trained using gameplay data for the particular player.

  • Patent number: 8157640
Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to present a wagering game upon which monetary value may be wagered; to present an initial image including a subset of a swarm in space representing a portion of the wagering game; and to determine the actual outcome of the wagering game based on player input indications, swarm behavior modeling, and a selected statistical game outcome. An updated image may then be generated and presented, derived from the initial image and the actual outcome.

Abstract: A multi-player game environment is created for single-player use. A user may select a single-player game or a multi-player game. When the user chooses a multi-player game, the user is prompted to select one or more customized AI characters. The AI characters may be available individually or in themed “packs.” The selected AI character or pack may be downloaded, stored, or otherwise made accessible to an electronic entertainment system. The user may select a mode or skill level for each AI character. The user may begin playing the game in a multi-player mode with the game environment populated with an avatar effectuating behaviors of the selected AI character or characters.

  • Patent number: 9305028
Abstract: A system, computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for detecting fraud in a social gaming environment is disclosed herein. For example, game events generated responsive to a player playing a game executing on a client device are received. The game events may then be used to build a player profile for the player. The player profile may characterize the game actions performed by the player. The player profile is then compared with a golden profile. The golden profile may specify an expected gaming behavior. Based on the comparison between the player profile and the expected gaming behavior specified by the golden profile, a player account associated with the player may be marked as suspicious.

  • Patent number: 6244956
Abstract: A pitcher character and a batter character are displayed on a browser image. The pitcher character throws a ball at a random speed in a random course. A behavior of the batter character is controlled through operation of a mouse by a player. Specifically, the player predicts a ball passing position and moves a pointer of the mouse to set a meet cursor at the predicted position on the browser image. The batter character swings a bat at the timing of the player clicking the mouse Depending on an overlap state between the meet cursor and the ball, it is judged whether or not the player has hit a home run. Resultant data of a game is sent to a server system along with identification information of the player. The server system totalizes resultant data to derive the total record per player, and produces a game award to be given to each player whose total record deserves it.

  • Patent number: 8641530
Abstract: A computer game for dynamic real time trading where the rates of the tradeable objects (such as securities prices) are presented/displayed by using changes in properties of game objects (such as position, speed, shape, size, color or texture, etc.). The system employs player computer(s), real time data feeds from the investment objects to be traded and a game application that dynamically renders the data feed onto a gamer's visual display. The game application renders the data feed via a Conversion Engine Price To Game Model that depicts the price changes of the tradeable objects as the behavior of the game objects by changing the displayed properties. The player interacts with the game visual display to actually execute “buy” or “sell” actions or a reverse action (e.g., “short sell” then “buy”).
