  • Publication number: 20230360053
Abstract: In response to a request for risk assessment of a person-to-person (P2P) payment transaction, a risk assessment system returns a payer risk score, a payee risk score and a joint/fusion risk score. Risk scores are based on large amounts of data (including transaction data) provided by multiple financial institutions. The data is sorted and linked to individual people (e.g., common account holders), and assembled by a profile system into payee, payer and joint profiles for purposes of risk evaluation. A database associated with a profile system separately stores the profiles (and associated risk scores). Risk scores (payer, payee and joint) are provided for a transaction in response to a payer ID, a payee ID and transaction data.

  • Publication number: 20130013491
Abstract: A method and system for reducing fraud by detecting duplicate financial transactions in a financial transaction processing system. In various embodiments, financial institutions can be alerted when a financial instrument such as a check is being tendered for deposit, wherein a previous deposit for that same instrument had previously been submitted at the same or a different financial institution. The system and method provide for detection of deposits of checks after remote deposit of the same check had been previously performed (for example by submitting a digital image of the check). Deposit of duplicate counterfeit paper checks issued to multiple parties can also be detected and mitigated.

  • Patent number: 6988078
Abstract: A system for controlling currency exchange and merchandise sales on commercial airline flights includes a point-of-sale (POS) computer for receiving currency and merchandise inventory information preflight and for recording transactions in-flight. Data is exchanged between the POS computer and a cash/currency processing computer (CPC) for reconciling preflight and post-flight inventories and for generating reports for use by the airlines, merchandise vendors and currency exchange service providers. A control method includes the steps of determining currency and merchandise inventories preflight, recording transactions in-flight and reconciling and reporting transactions post-flight.

  • Patent number: 6619770
Abstract: A security drawer assembly is provided for a standard airline service cart having opposite cart sidewalls defining a storage space therebetween and a plurality of horizontal runners mounted on the sidewalls inside the storage space. The security drawer assembly generally comprises a sleeve and drawer slidably mounted within the sleeve. The sleeve has opposing sidewalls defining a sleeve passage open at both ends. Each of the sleeve sidewalls include a horizontal flange for engaging the runners of the service cart. The sleeve is retained within the cart by stop blocks connected to the sleeve sidewalls which engage the ends of the cart runners. The stop blocks are connected to the sleeve by fasteners which are not accessible for removal when the drawer is closed and locked. The drawer is preferably constructed so as to be slidable in either direction such that it has a closed position and two open positions, one corresponding to each of the two open sleeve ends.

  • Patent number: 6390366
Abstract: A currency exchange and merchandise sales system includes a point-of-sale (POS) computer for inventorying currency and merchandise and for recording transactions involving same. A cash/currency processing computer (CPC) is located remote from the POS computer and receives data therefrom and transfers data thereto. The system is adapted for conducting currency exchange and merchandise sales transactions among passengers on a vehicle, such as an airliner, particularly on international flights. A security drawer is removably mounted in an airliner service cart packed with merchandise. The security drawer receives currency used for foreign currency exchange (FX) and for merchandise sales transactions. A currency exchange and merchandise sales method includes the steps of inventorying the currency and merchandise and loading same in the security drawer and the service cart preflight. Currency exchange and merchandise sales transactions are conducted by the aircrew in-flight and recorded on the POS computer.
