  • Patent number: 10882208
Abstract: The present invention is a novel method and device for addressing the problem of a flexed or bowed log while building a log cabin. The device is a portable lumber straightening device capable of fitting over an 8? wide log and pushing the log straight so that the bent log lines up with an adjacent straight log. The portable device has a main bridge connecting two pushing walls on opposite sides of a channel. Pneumatic pistons on either side of the walls facilitate these walls in pushing inward to the degree required in respect to the main channel defined by the main bridge.

Abstract: A process and a blanking mold are described for the production of a ferromagnetic core for electric motors formed by a plurality of segments. The laminations are blanked from a sheet of ferromagnetic material and stacked in an accumulation chamber of the blanking mold, along which they advance until a segment constituted by a stack having a preset number of laminations is formed, which is mechanically connected to an adjacent segment, thereby forming a rectilinear sequence of segments. The segments are hinged to each other with the possibility of mutual rotation to allow the sequence of segments to be brought from the rectilinear condition to a closed circular configuration.

Abstract: During the pressing of bales in a baler, a portion of a press channel in front of a retracted press ram is in each case completely filled with material to be compacted. During compacting, the pressure forces exerted on the press ram have a resultant which intersects the side of the press ram directed in pressing direction below the center thereof or below the center of the press channel section at the location of that side of the press ram. The press ram shows less tendency to tilt, as a consequence of which the press ram guide is less loaded and less friction occurs between the press ram and the press channel. Abstract: An apparatus and method for producing strapless bales of highly compressible textile fibers is disclosed, wherein a compressed block of the fibers is ejected and expanded into a flexible bag. The apparatus includes a supply chamber for supplying loose fibers to a tramping chamber which is stationary. A ram assembly repeatedly tramps the fibers to form a compacted fiber mass which is then formed into a compressed fiber block within a stationary compression chamber disposed in fiber transfer relation to the stationary tramping chamber. The compressed fiber block is ejected transverse to the compression chamber through an ejection sleeve about which an oversized flexible bag is fitted. Due to the fact that the bag is of a greater size than the cross section of the ejection sleeve and due to the stretch and flexibility of the bag, the compressible fibers in the compressed fiber block undergo an expansion process wherein the flexible bag is filled with the compressible fibers to form a strapless bale.

An operator console on a deck at a front of a hopper, which provides for operator observation and operation through a high tech control system. Material is fed into the hopper, such as by a conveyor. A compression chamber under the hopper and a bale chamber is at a forward end of the baler for baling of the materials and subsequent discharge by an ejection ram across a bale run-out table for later disposition. A control system provides the capability of automatic control for the baler, as well as diagnostic assistance when necessary. The baler is also the primary building block for a completely automated municipal recycling facility (MRF). The baler can bale such materials as corrugated cardboard, news print, magazines, computer paper, flattened cans, round cans, plastic bottles, scrap aluminum, scrap copper, aluminum radiators, as well as any other miscellaneous materials required for baling on a real time basis.

  • Patent number: 5203261
Abstract: A baling machine has an outer housing forming an elongate, rectangular main baling chamber with a discharge opening at one end and an auxiliary baling chamber intersecting the main baling chamber. An inlet opening directs cans into the chambers at the intersection. An auxiliary piston is reciprocally mounted in the auxiliary baling chamber to compress cans to a first compression pressure in an initial compaction stage, while a main piston is reciprocally mounted in the main baling chamber to compress the compacted cans to a second compression pressure in a final compaction stage in which a bale of predetermined dimensions and weight is formed without any need for pre-weighing the cans.

  • Patent number: 5201266
Abstract: A baler machine including a charging chamber for receiving material to be baled. The charging chamber has a charging passage through which material is forced into a baling compression chamber by a compression ram to thereby form a bale in the compression chamber. An ejection ram is provided for forcing the compressed material out of the baling compression chamber through an exit passageway. A movable decompression wall functions as one wall of the baling compression chamber. Such wall is located opposite and spaced from the charging passage through which material is forced from the charging chamber. A power cylinder is provided to move the decompression wall in a horizontal direction to effectively increase the volume of the baling compression chamber which, at the same time, increases the size of the exit passageway to thereby permit ejection of an oversized bale from the compression chamber.

  • Patent number: 5096111
Abstract: A method of diametrically contracting a cylindrical body, includes the steps of grasping the cylindrical body with a plurality of elongated grasping members, preparing a cylindrical drawing die having an opening at one end and a tapered inside peripheral surface, drawing the grasping members together with the cylindrical body into the drawing die, through the opening, and applying a compression force to the cylindrical body through the grasping members due to the passage along through the tapered inside peripheral surface, to thereby cause the cylindrical body to be diametrically contracted. During the drawing process, since the cylindrical body does not come into direct contact with the drawing die, neither scratches nor baking cracks are produced on the outside surface of the cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 5073200
Abstract: An improved system for extracting soluble substances from fibrous material by using a plurality of maceration and compression steps thereby excerting moderate pressure on the fibrous material up to 15 bars.Arrangements are made to saturate the fibrous material to its maximum absortion potential between each pressure application. Moisture content of the agent fibrous material is finally reduced with the combined application of moderate and high pressure. The application of imbibition liquid in this area and the use of the solvent received for the purpose of maceration in the preceeding extraction steps is made in accordance with the respective concentration of the solvent. The extraction system can operate without the application of process heat; therefore, a lixiviator is not required. Two or more maceration and compression steps can be located in a module, thus permitting a very compact arrangement of the extraction system.

  • Patent number: 4691628
Abstract: A method for operating a dewatering press wherein a mass for wet fibrous material is dewatered on all six sides by compressing the mass with a second ram against a plurality of liners arranged on a front face of the second ram, on a rear face of a door, and on a top wall, a bottom wall, and two opposing side walls of a press box. Before entering the press box, a quantity of the mass of wet fibrous material is selected by a first ram which is guided a predetermined distance beneath a hopper of wet fibrous material by a pair of piston rods and cylinders arranged on opposite external sides of the first ram. On one side edge of the front face of the second ram and also on one side wall of the press box, there are positioned four-edged knives which cut off a selected quantity of wet fibrous material after such material is fed into the compression chamber but before such material is pushed into the press box by the second ram.

  • Patent number: 4589942
Abstract: A method for laminating a composite assembly having outer films of plastic to provide such a composite assembly without appreciable transverse curl. The method includes the steps of preparing two oppositely facing outer films which may be of bi-axially oriented plastic. Each film may have an outer layer of a tough abrasion resistant material and an inner layer of thermoplastic bonding resin. In one embodiment, a portion of the inner layer of thermoplastic bonding resin may be coated with a strip of electrically conductive material. The inner layers of thermoplastic bonding resins are heated and the films are brought together in a common plane. In one embodiment, a central core is inserted between the converging films at spaced intervals. The outer films and the central core are laminated by passing them between first and second pairs of pressure rolls. The first and second pairs of pressure rolls are tilted at equal and opposite angles to the plane of the films.
